Argue over the contract all you want, but the truth is you just don't pay running backs anymore. Pay a damn dynamic receiver instead

You have to pay all players, there is no escaping that. The top 32 paid Running backs collectively make an average of ~5-6 million this year.

we are paying our running back the league average.

I mean we're paying 54mil in dead money this year.  If we can pay players 54 mil to not play here I'm pretty sure we could pay Burns 28-30mil to do his thing.

Edit: We have another 25mil on IR.

Kind of misleading since 33 million of that is from the CMC and DJ Moore trades.

Robby Anderson is the bonehead one with the 9 mill in dead cap… the rest is cuts and restructures

Miles Sanders is our highest paid rb yet he might be the 3rd best rb on the roster.

I'm inclined to disagree. We can't give Miles a better linemen right now, but we can put our linemen in the weight room so they'd be strong enough to block in the direction the run is suppose to go.

    • I mean, I think you're being a little hyperbolic with the last statement, but point taken.
    • Pass rush was the biggest issue in tonight’s game, and we were tied for 28th in sacks this season. That is a major area of need that has to get addressed this offseason. I just don’t see a path where there’s a game changing QB you can bring in with where we are drafting and quality of veterans that will be available. We certainly can do better than Dalton as a backup, and should ideally have a developmental guy  (perhaps a day 3 pick this year). We have bryce for one more year on a reasonable contract and then I think 2027 is the year that you reset that position (unless he massively improves).
    • Agreed, honestly basically bringing this group back as a healthy unit would be alright.  Brady Christensen should be resigned to a very reasonable deal with him recovering from the Achilles.  Atleast we're alright at 4 of our 5 spots with Lewis, Mays, Hunt, and Moton, Nijman was decent.  While if we can snag a deal on someone, take a stab, however our resources need to go to Linebacker, Pass Rush and a real option outside Tmac (coker is amazing, but if we can get someone who isnt braindead opposite Tmac, we can fully unleash Coker AND Tmacs full potential, cant move him into the slot if racoon boy is out there licking doorknobs).
