Head coaches are only as good as their quarterback is.

100% facts.

This is pretty much the case for all sports. Great HC's usually have great players. It's okay for them to get credit when they win championships. When those players leave so does team success.

Just look at Greg Popovich when he loss 3 HOF players in Duncan/Manu/Parker. Spurs have been a lottery team with that same HC.

Patriots now experiencing that with no Tom Brady at QB.

he'll just move into some Patriots front office position.

I wouldn't be totally shocked if he just called it a career. Not sure he would be skillful enough to be VP of player development or the like, and don't think he's personable enough to be VP of community engagement or such. I'm sure they will offer to transition him in to some empty office though, because how do you realistically fire him?

Didn't mean something quite like that, more like one of those "advisor to the owner" type of roles where they just pay him to be visible with the Patriots and be someone Kraft can bounce ideas off of.

It seems like this will be his last year in NE. He’d probably want 15-20 million a year and Tepper would probably be one of the few owners willing to pay that. He could resurrect his legacy by building a winning somewhere outside of NE, where better than Boston-South in Charlotte.

NOOOOO!

would probably turn out like the Sean Payton debacle in Denver but at least we wouldn't have to trade draft picks for him. I hate the cheater with a passion but you know what, if we get him there's possibly a chance he could bring us some success for the first time under Tepper so sure whatever why not. Can't be any worse than it is right now. I can't believe it's gotten to this point that I would even type that but here we are

Disagree. He's gunning for Shula's wins record and based on how this year is going I highly doubt he gets the opportunity to chase it in NE. Although I bet Andy Reid retires with the most wins by a HC when all is said and done.

LOL at people calling Belichick a "retread coach"

If there was ever a previous HC that couldn't be considered a "retread" it would be the best coach of all time.

It doesn't matter, as he's never coaching a game for anyone other than the Patriots, when he's done there, he's just done, it would be the weirdest thing ever to see him coach another team, he'll just move into some Patriots front office position.

It's looking more and more like Brady carried that duo far more than Bill did. If he's fired at the end of the season and then re-hired elsewhere, it won't be because of what he's done since the divorce. He'd be hired based on his reputation with the GOAT QB. BB was a very good coach with Brady, but plugging him into a similar situation as he's in in NE isn't going to yield different results.

noob posting to post it looks like. Why would he want to coach under a control freak like tepper and his wife? he's off to the sunset until washington or the raiders offer him 100 million dollars when he's 70

    • No saying he mostly sucks is saying that he doesn’t suck the minority of the time.   Like if he took 17 tests and had a couple of really good showings and a handful of pretty good scores sprinkled in among the typical sub par results.   Like a golfer who went out and shot an 89.  There will be some real nice shots sprinkled in there but at the end of the day it is still 89.
    • It's worth mentioning... Game 1: Oct 11 in Raleigh. 4-3 OT win with a complete starting lineup. Game 2: Dec 13 in Philly. 4-3 SO win without Jaccob Slavin. Game 3: Dec 14 in Raleigh. 3-2 SO win with a complete starting lineup. Game 4: Apr 13 in Philly. 3-2 SO loss with the AHL roster.  Those early season games were no indication of the Canes team that finished the season. Miller and Ehlers were still trying to figure things out, Nikishin was still a work in progress and the Stankoven line was just another line. Make no mistake, the Canes team Philly will see is nothing close to what they saw at any point in the season. If the top line starts producing, Freddie stays hot and the blue line does what it does, this could be a sweep as well.
