Raiders owner regrets not hiring successful interim head coach. How long until we see the article about David Tepper regretting not hiring Steve Wilks?

Being wrong on Frank doesn't make Wilks right.  They both were the wrong pick.

At this point, hell, I would've been fine with experimenting on Kellen Moore over what we've endured with Reich.

After Ben Johnson decided to stay and reports came out we weren't set on Steichen, it all started to smell so wrong.  And we were all sold eventually by the coaching staff, not so much the HC himself.  It was a long sell, but eventually everyone got hyped because of the parts around him, never Reich himself.

I really think Frank thought he could execute some cool swan song of a coaching stint here before retiring in 4-5...he should've just taken a break for a season.  You can tell he just looks drained.

Just uninspiring and deflating...like the games we're watching haha

Outside of Ben Johnson and Steichen, the interviewed field dwindled down to Kellen Moore, Mike Kafka, Ken Dorsey, Frank Reich, & Ejiro Evero...(Campbell and Wilks were never happening)

That's honestly not the best lot to choose from.

Just speculating -- I gotta wonder if really, Steichen didn't want to be here rather than the rumors that he didn't vibe with Tepper.  I mean, after being a big field, the pickings got slim quickly.  Seemed like our lovely Tepper/Fitt unit jumped on the only guy left that made them feel comfortable.  They didn't want to gamble on the others that weren't on the Ryans/Gannon/Steichen/Johnson coordinator-level hype.  There was Reich just sitting there with his "plan" and they didn't want to look lost after the SB still interviewing and not knowing who to go with.

We don't know, can't know, and will never know. Wilks has been a head coach before and wasn't great. He's now not a head coach and is moving down to the field because the 9ers D is a letdown this season. Yes, he got us some wins here, but so has every coach that's coached here. Some of you guys are like a battered wife lol. Happy with the smallest little thing. Get back to us when Wilks is a head coach again and leads his team all the way year after year. And yes, he's still better than what we have now.

My theory:

Tepper chose what he thought was a middle ground between the two sides of the fan base on what they wanted. One faction wanted Steve Wilks, the other faction wanted an offensive mind to develop a new QB. One of the things that people loved about Wilks was that he was a Charlotte guy, and had ties to the franchise from the past. He picks Frank because it’s a guy with a background in offense and is a former panther so both boxes are checked.

Pretty sure he wants a Time Machine to go back and fix that one.

    • Two things: 1. Dr. Eric Eager is central to the draft process 2. I know that it was edited, but we didn't hear "Thieneman" one time, not even before the Vikings pick.
    • Why would he sign here as a guard when surely someone would sign him as a tackle?  Assuming he is healthy
    • Went back to watching the highlights. With a sober mind haha. Here is what I saw.    freddie needs to make 1 of those but the rest aren’t on him.    Slavin was BBBBAAAD again last night. Not sure what is going on with these game one Slavin gafs.    miller was ok but had his worst game in the playoffs so far.    nikishin was no good. His his awful turnover led to the first goal at the end of the first period that just can’t happen. ghost was beat like a drum multiple times last night, including the go-ahead goal at the end jarivs wont shoot. He is either hurt or he is struggling mentally and I think it could be a combination of both. He passed up a wide open net on the power-play only to pass it to no one and cleared it himself.     Svech played well. He is getting zero help on that line.    aho. Worst game as a pro. I mean that. He won’t shoot it, passes go to no one and turns it over repeatedly.  He did exactly what they did against Montreal game one when Miller had a turnover. Aho left his man to go help and left the golden Knight player wide open in front of Freddie.  If I was Rod, you Tell Aho when that thing hits your stick you fire it  someone needs to sit him down just him in a room and ask what’s going on. He seems soft, timid and has zero fire.   canes could have won that game   There isn’t a gap between these two teams  they are dead even   Carter Hart’s gonna get lit up in this series. We can beat that guy. the consensus last night was our defense played horrible and our stars won’t score.  clean the defense up. Tell the top line to shoot it everything and we’ll win tomorrow night.   Possibly convincingly.
