Completely agree and i love Smitty but He was wrong and he is my favorite player. I can separate the two.  He is not a good evaluator just cuz he played the game.

To be fair in a more recent video where he was trying to defend Bryce he did admit he doesn’t know the ins and outs of QBs because he’s never been in the QB room and never played it at any level. So he acknowledged he doesnt have a super informed take. I think his wanting Carolina to succeed influenced his comments.

He doesn’t want to go in a draft with Maye and Williams. 2025 can be all about Sanders plus he will be playing on a much better roster. Honestly having him at QB will attract a lot of transfer portal players.

It won't be all about Sanders if the wheels fall off in Boulder. The gold plating is falling off and now we're looking at lead.

It's like the Cam draft... minus Cam.

Look at our 3 drafts since Fitterer has been here. Sure Rhule was a factor BUT after seeing this years draft it’s hard to give Fitterer much of a pass. This years draft was just like the 2 before it.

3 consecutive drafts without anything to show for it. It’s not hard to figure out why we are where we are

Just straight trash. If you want to understand how we're so bad, just look at our drafts.

I think he generally does a pretty good job evaluating receivers but I really think he got caught up in defending a guy taking criticisms for lack of size. That feels personal and hits close to home for Smitty.

You are correct. I think a lot of people took it personal with bryce more than the actual analysis, thats not talked about enough.

At this point, anyone (former player or not) who is attached to this team or in any capacity being compensated by our owner needs to not be trusted.

As soon as Bryce showed up to the combine just to weigh in with an extra 20 pounds of water weight should have been all teams needed to see to take him off their first round draft board. The choice to take CJ at 1 should have been cemented right then and there.

I don’t think so. They were a bottom tier team and Deon immediately made them competitive and gave them a lot of confidence. I hear waaay more people talking about Colorado that I have in a long time. I think they are bringing in Warren Sapp as an assistant which will help with recruiting. Their roster is just incomplete at the moment. They are definitely on the rise. Bring back your star QB and what college player isn’t going to want to play there?

    • this     I never cease to be amazed at the number of people who will run up their blood pressure to get to the grocery store 30 seconds faster or are racing to get to work like it won’t be there at 8:02.   The only thing I’ve ever done that I think added more years to my life besides quitting smoking, was to learn to go with the flow behind the wheel.
    • The term you're looking for is "malinger(ed)", and he didn't.  I'm not sure why Panthers fans act like jaded ex girlfriends.  The dude is clearly injury prone as his time in San Fransico also proves. It's not like he got to San Fran and stopped having problems.
    • My long and rambling post:   The guy is all heart, and I wouldn’t be surprised if he came back even better next year. He’s exactly the guy you lock up. The money won’t ever change the way he plays.  It was a big fumble, but what 1,000 yard back fumbles once in an entire season?  Pride. This team is FINALLY seeing guys who obviously take the game very seriously. Hunt, Chuba, Thielen, Brown, Horn (CB), Coker, Bryce (IMHO). Bye bye, Spider-Man. I don’t see these dudes being OK with teammates half-assing practice or in games. I can see Brown and Horn coming over to talk to somebody.  Good team? Ummm, maybe, but will still likely lose more close games than they win unless this last draft turns in to LOB part 2. That’s a stretch.  Pretty good/decent team. Yes. They finished the season as a pretty good team. I know I sound like a broken record harping back to it, but going in to ATL and putting a 40 burger on them en route to an OT win. A bad Panthers team would have had their brakes beaten off. We’ve seen it.  Rose colored glasses on and bonging a 40 of hopium: There are watershed moments that occur that change the course of franchises, both good and bad. If Fox doesn’t pull Rodney at halftime, the epic journey that was 2003 never happens. On the negative side, Cam taking that one hit from Watt was the end of any and all Panthers relevancy and we’ve been the biggest losers in all of pro sports as a result. Watershed moments. LOB draft. Vinny goes down and the goat is born.  Will the ATL game be the spark that this franchise has desperately needed? Could it be that they hit the mega million jackpot with Princley and Scourton as eat QBs for breakfast? Sure would be nice having 2 all-pro edge guys on the cheap for the next 4 years.  A lot of unknowns, but at least it actually feels  fun again.
