RPOs are typically much more quick hitting plays with YAC designed.  I hardly ever see them.

 

Most of our shotgun play action are just straight play action, not a true read for Bryce to give or throw it.

And as a general rule, opposing defenses don't tend to get fooled by it 😕

Fooled by shotgun play action or RPOs? I will say the shotgun play action kinda feels half-assed, like the QB is clearly looking up reading the defense while hes "handing" it off lol

I honestly think Frank wanted to be fired. I don't think he wanted Bryce and a meeting with Tepper every week made being here probably unbearable. Coaches usually adapt with what they have and he showed no signs of wanting to do that. After he was fired, he said he was probably done with football. I could be wrong, but it just feels like he wanted to be bought out and retire.

Our version of play action.

And "half-assed" is honestly a pretty good description 😕

It's fun trying to sift through fact and fiction in the aftermath of firings. Based on how awful the OL has been when they were the one constant (players & coaching) that we didn't have to be too concerned about outside of the Corbett injury, I believe the RPO declination.

Watching this team from preseason game 1 to last Sunday in Nashville, this offense epitomizes "square peg, round hole". Every player outside of AT have regressed heavily. I'd say Chuba and Tremble maintained last year's numbers.

Completely.   We don't even try to keep defenses honest.   

 

And we have a struggling rookie QB who we keep forcing to throw without making it easier on him.

 

It's seemed obvious that hard play action, bootlegs, reverses, RPO would be a huge benefit to Bryce AND an OL who is struggling to pass block.

Yeah generally you wanna play action from under center, but Bryce turning his back to the line, and then turning around and stepping up into a throw seems like a no go with his height

I don't know that it's a huge deal; it just didn't happen much in college and Reich apparent didn't even attempt to try.

 

If it keeps pass rush  honest, you have to do it.  2 inches of heigh shouldn't take an entire set of formations out of your playbook.  Brees ran play action under center all the time.

      Yeah, Bryce has to put that a little deeper. But XL can't allow the pick there. Gotta become the DB when you're undercut like that.

      You see, I just don't subscribe to a cookie cutter type of philosophy when it comes to trades or team building. Every situation is different. Many may disagree, but I think that FOs that can't draft impact-players beyond the first round aren't really viable.  Just for argument's sake, because we all know this hypothetical trade is as realistic as the moon being made of cheese, Micah is a young dawg really just beginning his prime and is arguably the most valuable pass rusher in the league. He could realistically play at a high level for at least the next five to seven years. Parsons' current trajectory is Canton. That being said, he's not some old merc that fits the mold of "one piece away," he's a core piece to any defense for the better part of the next 10 years. Pass rushers of his caliber and age don't generally become available, so, sure, he'd help an elite team, but he's also a fit for a younger team that's building. I know that you don't agree, but it's all good. I respect your rationale.

      Here's my not important take on this subject.  Who wouldn't want a pass rusher of his consistency?  I would absolutely love to have him on this defense.   Would I give up Brown in a trade for him.  Nope, I would never do that.  Interior linemen are way to important to be settling for whatever you can get at the position.   Would I trade 2 firsts,  plus fork out a big contract for him?   Without knowing if Young is for sure going to be our long term, franchise guy,  there is no way I'd be okay with letting go 2 firsts. As for the contract that he'd demand, I just dont get caught up with NFL contracts.  They have been out of control for decades.  So I really dont get upset over big contracts. It's just a fact of life in the NFL.  You HAVE to pay for talent.
