Tepper's patience is why we are screwed for at least 3 more years.

Let's test this theory and see how patient he is with Bryce.  If Bryce not only loses out the rest of the season AND still looks like he's not even at NFL backup caliber, then we should be making a QB change in the offseason, correct?  It's been 40 years since a coach was fired this quickly, but Josh Rosen getting the boot was in recent years.  Let's see how patient Tepper is with Young.

Fact of the matter is he HAS to be patient with Young, we don't have our first round pick this draft so we can't move on from him as quickly/easily as we could if we did. We are tied to Bryce until at least next offseason when we get our first round pick back.

Not so.  If Big Brass Balls really wanted to, we could get a QB at #33 or move up to the back end of the 1st round.  Will he? Nope, it's not that we can't, he just won't because it's becoming clearer by the day that the Teppers were the driving force behind Young to begin with.  His ego will not allow him to ditch Bryce this early.

I don't say this lightly, but if Bryce finishes this season on his current pace (2,900 yards, 5.4 YPA, 13 TDs, 13 INTs) and we finish 1-16, I would throw in the towel and use pick 33 to take someone like Jayden Daniels if he's there.

Folks talk about Tua looking like poo during his first two seasons but he still averaged 6.6 YPA and had a 27 to 15 TD/INT ratio.

patience has nothing to do with it, he is quick to move from god awful hires, but it’s the god awful decisions that is the reason we will be set back and even more so, the fact Tepper still doesn’t understand he shouldn’t be making those decisions

He looks at everything as an asset, and is more that willing to identity a sunk cost and move on.

So in theory he should can Fitt and be open to moving on from Bryce. But will he? That’s the question.

If he is, the new GM and HC should be tied to nothing from the past and should be able to do whatever they see fit. Now that would give me hope again.

We could even move up to the high 20's trading pick #33 and our 3rd round pick in 2025.  So yes, this could be done with relative ease.

I agree 100%.  We have to see what kind of new coaches we get, see their offensive system in place, and then we can really evaluate if Bryce is the dude or the problem.

While there has been plenty of well deserved criticism leveled at Bryce, I can't say enough how frustrating it is that we've seen the same problem week in and week out with our OL and the blitz - YET NOTHING is being done.  As I've heard from multiple announcers this season - our offense has zero answers for the defense and that's why we're struggling.  It's not the only thing, but man it's true.

We need to be patient with our draft assets right now.  We've seen Fitterer blow so many picks in trades or poor choices.  We need a new GM and coaching staff to actually be on the same page.  Let's go back to getting as much value as we can for our picks, drafting smart, and beef up the OL and DL in FA.

Winning cures all, and I hate we'll all have to wait another season before the CHANCE at some more wins.

As far as Young's leash?  I say give him another full season.  If we're not seeing improvements in year 2, then looking at the 2025 QB class would be worthwhile.  Heck, I bet our 1st in 2025 will be really high at this rate...

i've already checked out of next season, too. i just don't have a good feeling about anything up until 2025 and even then i'm kind of sketchy about it.

There’s no reason to have a good feeling.  We aren’t going to take a QB at 33 and we don’t have #1 overall so where would we get a QB to be optimistic about? We have so many legitimate holes that being competitive in 2024 relies on basically finding a diamond when we don’t even have a mine. If Fitterer is still around, then you can chalk up some more bad value trades, reaches and having more talent drain.

There is no quick fix and it feels like 2024 is 2011 except that Fitterer actually made the trade up to get Clausen in the 1st and we won’t get Cam.

It sucks so bad to be a fan right now knowing that Fitterer basically did make what would have been Hurney’s biggest mistake and he threw in not trading Burns/trading CMC and Moore for nothing. Coaching failures aside, our biggest mistake as a franchise was hiring Fitterer and not a legit GM.

man, that's exactly what its like.

i still feel that young can be ok...better than clausen anyways...and i don't know who would be cam coming up next year, but i think we definitely have put ourselves in a pile of poo that we won't be able to get ourselves out of for a while.

    • Well bois, we gave the Devils their due! Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery... The jersey boys have been trying to jack our steeze for a few years now. They've followed our blueprints and studied our tape. Every offseason, they pounce on our sloppy seconds in a Newark minute. Quick with the puck, ferocious on the forecheck and stifling team defense. Down to the colors, this is this closest we'll come to having to play ourselves in Ole Stanley's Hockey Hoedown. As the postseason began, Rod stood flexing in the gym mirror and saw this guy staring back from the void... (Shutters) When beating us at our game didn't work, Timo and the Tri-State Trash tried to tango instead. Outside of a bitchass cheapshot on Freddie, that poo didn't work either. Their goon squad was getting wrecked by our bantam weights. As much as we all wanted to see Svechy or Staal Bunyan literally break someone in half after the Great Dane went down, they didnt need to. Our munchkins were monsters! Jarvis obliterating giants at the blue line, Logan laying the Stank on dudes twice his size and Blakers blasting Timo into next season. It was beautiful to see! (Side note: Does JBlo wear lead weights under his pads? 170lbs shouldn't be able to hit that hard!) We closed it out in 5, for the gentleman's sweep. Only team in the league to win a series in each of the past 7(?) seasons! And, this was supposed to be a rebuilding year... Onto the awards: Key To The Series : 6 for 19 - .316% IT FINALLY WORKED!!! MVP : 16/180 g/s - .911 save% - 2.53 gaa Seriously, without this dude, we would've won in 3! (Trust me bro) 3rd Star : 6/94 g/s - .936 save % - 1.59 gaa The Great Dane   2nd Star : 3 g - 5 a - +1 - 20:38 toi/g - 18 hits - 3 bs - 58.1% fo 3 PP goals and the 2OT series winning goal! WOOAAAHHH NELLY!!!!   And, your 1st Star of the series : 5 g - 1 a - +3 - 16:48 toi/g - 16 hits - 1 bs - 1 tk - 50% fo Zero, I repeat, zero penalty minutes for the series! MISSSTAAAHHH SVEEECHNIKOOOV!!!!!! Onto The Next: Now, we wait for the Habs to make it a nasty 7 game slog, while we recuperate. And, hopefully, get Nikishin, and some of the other black aces some real peactice time. We are gonna need those guys at some point. Because, if you think the Devils were dirty, hoooo boy, wait till you see what's next...
