That’s what doomed us but Bryce was a top 2 pick by damn near everyone. Kid has zero arm, can’t read a defense, and does nothing.

Guys like Mitch Trubisky have gotten picked 2nd overall before.  People are only able to say it's stupid or makes no sense with the benefit of hindsight.

Bryce was the consensus first or second QB available in the draft, but now that he's had a shitty year people are talking like he would have been a day 2 pick or something if we hadn't traded up.  It's the most valuable position on the field and players get overdrafted all the time.

Yeah he's just uncomfortable now, and it's clear. I think his confidence is shot... He's missing layups of throws...

But if it's was ever routine, I could expect him to miss one or two gimme with his confidence low, but my God...  that last sequence was back to back to back just horrible.

Now we can all see why Frank wasn’t “opening up” the playbook. The guy was completely handcuffed by Bryce and was clearly the scapegoat.

Nah we're not retconning that Frank wasn't a problem. Look at Chubba Hubbard's performance the past 2 weeks (or when Brown called plays generally) vs when Frank was calling the same run up the middle every single first down.

At this point, maybe Young will do something regrettable off the field and the Panthers can cut him for cause. He could improve, but he is so bad that he will still be a huge problem.

It makes no sense. He made those passes with ease at Alabama. It’s like he thinks these guys are faster than they are.

I have to be honest. It gives me vibes like he's the clock in clock out type of QB how Sam Darnold was. Good person good teammate. But that's pretty much where it ended. I don't like to have to wonder this. But it's a legitimate question at this point.

Correct, 40% to be accurate.  So even Brown's contribution to the playbook is garbage?  I'm asking because I see several narratives backfiring here on the Huddle since Reich's firing.

I don't care at this point who wrote the playbook.  Why in the hell are you going deep from shotgun on 4th and 1???  They are constantly doing that crap, situational playcalling has been horrible, no matter who it is.

    • Jake in his prime was a gutsy QB. But just like with even someone like Cam. Father time is undefeated. It's very unfortunate we have a guy who is only 24 years old that has an equivalent arm to that. Absolutely blows my mind that our brain trust lacked the basic common sense to value arm talent when making a massive trade with ramifications for years to come. Unforgivable incompetence.
    • Jake, to me, will always hold a special place in my heart.  I really feel like for his era, he deserved way more love than he got, and should’ve had more than his one Pro Bowl.  He was a gamer with an underrated rocket arm. but let me tell you, after his Tommy John surgery, when he came back, I can’t remember who it was against, but it think it was a division game, he threw a ball that was supposed to be a throw away, as I think he was under pressure, and that poo floated forever and died right at the boundary where a defender ran over and picked it off.  One of the worst throws I ever saw.  His arm just wasn’t the same after the injury and surgery.  All that to say, that’s what almost every Bryce throw to the sidelines looks like to me.
    • And again, when watching him in college he had one distinct trait that I feel makes a franchise QB - on those plays when everything breaks down around him, he creates one on his own.  He doesn’t rely on or need everyone else.  That play last night on the final drive where he was getting sacked and threw it to Diggs before his knee hit the ground?  He does similar things all the time.  Mahomes, Allen, Lamar, etc., they all do it.  It’s what made Cam so special. but we picked a guy that’s the opposite of that.  He desperately needs someone else to make a play for him because he can’t.  Even that play yesterday on 4th down to Horn.  That wasn’t a great pass.  The defender was late and came down to make a play in the ball and Bryce threw it high and outside where Horn had to leave his feet and really use strong hands to catch it.  We relied on a 5’9” rookie playing in his first pro game to make THAT catch at THAT time bc of the early turnovers and a not great throw.  Crazy.
