Bryce Young Cannot Make Basic NFL Throws

Most pro-ready prospect my ass.  

I think we all knew prior to today that he's not ready to be a starter in the league. However, today was the first game where I thought we opened up the playbook and tried to do something different with our pass plays. There were no screens and not many designed short, safe throws to Thielen. Instead, we saw posts and go routes. When he had time to throw, Young was awful. Inaccurate, no anticipation, terrible footwork, basically everything that you don't want to see in a guy that you just mortgaged your future to get. 

Don't get me wrong, the playcalling could have been better, especially in short yardage. This was a game we could have won with a competent OC, but if we had won it would only be because of our ability to run the ball. We have basically become the Weinke/Clausen offense where we should just hand it off every time because we don't have a quarterback capable of making an NFL throw to an NFL open receiver.

Young has so far to go that I'm now pretty much convinced we will waste another year on him and we will be drafting a QB in 2025. We should also consider bringing in some competition next year too in case things go south in the first 6 games. We absolutely made one of the biggest mistakes in NFL history with this pick.

Come on. He CAN make the throws. He just isn't. No excuse on a few of them. Gotta give your receiver a chance to make a play.

I think his confidence is shot. He needs a restart to get out of his head. 

And honestly these receivers are really, really bad.

He had 3 of his most impressive throws today, one was a drop, one was a receiver with their head turned the wrong way, and one was a completion. There’s a reason why everyone outside this dumbass  forum is saying Bryce doesn’t have a chance.

You noticed? Hopefully the rest of the NFL hasn't figured this out. I think Young is here for his entire rookie contract & he won't be benched ever if Tepper gets his way.

Yeah he can. He's regressing because of the lack of talent, poor coaching scheme, and poor o line play this year. He needs a reset and its too early to call him a bust. Let's see how he's performing around this time next year.

Maybe there’s lead in my water but i honestly thought he played his ass off today. This was the most positive performance I’ve seen from him all year. 
 

Multiple drives were killed by WRs today. He showed way more mobility in the pocket and moved the chains with his legs. Yes he missed the deep shots but he at least overthrew them and took chances.  We haven’t seen that all year. I want to see more of this aggressive version of Bryce.

I defended Cam for being put in similar poo situations and I’ll die on this hill today. Bryce showed more today than he has all year.

regressing from what? Week 1?

He also couldn't hit deep passes or see safeties in the middle.

You are running a VERY limited passing playbook with Bryce. You're effectively turning the entire field into a redzone offense.

I agree. He doesn't have an average NFL receiving Corp. The o line is starting to come around though. Much better than the first 10 games.
