Bryce was allegedly yelled at by Bozeman...

That's true Bryce's footwork is awful and definitely needs work, but the Oline hasn't done him any favors to at least try and establish good footwork by allowing just so many sacks and pressures this year.

His footwork has always been terrible since at least his days at Alabama. You rarely ever see him do a standard 3-, 5-, or 7-step drop. Instead, he just saunters backward like a tranquilized raccoon and then does his signature midget-hop like he's twitching on some designer drug. How TF is he gonna get the timing down with that bullsh!t footwork, not to mention generate enough zip for passes into tight NFL windows? And how TF are the linemen (especially the interior) supposed to block for him when he never gives them enough depth to work with?

Your golden boy also holds onto the ball forever, because his little mouse brain overheats as soon as the reads get just a little tough, so much so that he has no spare mental capacity for basic pocket awareness and navigation, such as climbing the pocket or stepping away from the pressure. He just pogo hops or stands on the same spot like a carboard standie and eats sacks. Even when he tries to get away from pressure, which he almost always does when it's already too freaking late, he doesn't have the speed to outrun defenders, and because he's so tiny, one hand on his shoulder pad is enough to make him eat turf.

The fact is that our O-line gives Bryce plenty of time to make throws. Plenty of time. It's his fault that his fundamentals are so atrocious and his processing so slow that he can't hit open receivers on time or make bare minimum NFL-level throws accurately and consistently or avoid sacks to extend plays.

And here's another thing: sacks are more of a QB statistic, which is why they are listed on a QB's stat sheet. The majority of sacks are due to Bryce's fault. Why? Because he almost always had enough time in the pocket to either throw to a receiver or simply scramble and throw the ball away. QBs are drilled over and over and over again on the importance of avoiding sacks, because sacks are the worst outcome save for interceptions or pick sixes. This is QB 101 stuff but apparently too difficult to grasp for our super S2-processor. Don't just stand there like a deer in headlights or a special needs boi who just got off the short bus on the wrong stop. Throw the damn ball away, FFS!

Face it, we bet the farm on a QB who can't even perform simple 3-, 5-, and 7-step drops (or 3- and 5-step drops from the shotgun), which is something a decent Pop Warner QB can perform with consistency.

I may need to make it my crusade, but this narrative that we haven't given Bryce enough time to do his thing has gotta stop.  Once again, here are the actual pressure rates and pocket times:

image.thumb.png.2101d4357113df004ea5b08d56fe8c58.png

Teams who give up a pressure rate within 2.5% of our Oline are teams like:  San Francisco, Houston, Detroit, Cleveland and Kansas City.  How are Purdy, Stroud, Goff, Flacco and Mahomes doing?  Yea, they seem fine.

23 out of 32 teams show pocket time with one tenth of a second of what we have.  That's more than two thirds of the league!  This isn't the issue.

Our Oline isn't perfect, I won't make excuses for them.  But BY has not helped them AT ALL.  NFL pass games are HEAVILY based around timing, which is tied to footwork.  His footwork and therefore timing have been atrocious all year.

Many quality NFL QB's get the job done with pressure rates and pocket times like what we provide.  Including rookies like Stroud and Levis.  No more excuses.  Bryce must get way better.

Nailed it. Bryce stinks. “Oh he threw for 300 yards vs Green Bay”. SFW. I saw Darnold throw for 300 a few times and he stinks. Bryce is a collapse. A complete colossal bust. “But but but what Peyton’s rookie year??? He stunk” Peyton’s at least threw for over 3400 years and 26 TDS that year with one less game. Mini me won’t touch 3000 yards and has 12 TDs. Half of Peyton’s rookie numbers. And if Peyton’s rookie numbers “stunk” Bryce’s rookie numbers are Jamarcus Russel, Ryan leaf, and pickles level bad.  Facts are facts

Hopefully Bryce is mentally tough and can handle a heated exchange with his lineman so that no "safe space" is needed or any BS like that. I want my team's QB to always be the mentally toughest dude on the field at all times where nothing phases him and he sets an example for everyone else around him.

Have you seen any of his press conferences? He can't string a sentence together without a bunch of um, um, ums.

I appreciate the real data people are bringing to give us a full picture on the talk of our OL woes.

Regardless of who we hire as the head coach we definitely need to see some level of an upward trend from Bryce next season or the locker room is going to get dicey. It doesn't matter how nice someone is or how much they are liked as a person when other people are having their livelihood affected by consistently bad QB play. Eventually it erodes the foundation. See Sam Darnold as a starting QB.

Many believe that Youngs poor dropbacks cause issues. Which makes a lot of sense. Improper depth and pace will do that. It would make sense as to why a veteran lineman was frustrated.

I don't buy that at all. The line was terrible when Dalton was in there as well. The problem is we're running an offense that plays to the exact opposite of what our linemen are (were) good at.

We look worse in person. That's pretty bad. I knew something was off the first preseason game. Just one more game and this freaking season is over. I feel for the fan base and we are in deep dodo.

with this team, you can't just say its the preseason we'll figure it out its vanilla etc. when the jets had 11 sacks against us in scrimmage, that was the reveal right there and confirmed every bit of nightmare we had.

After the jets practice, a bunch of our beat writers said that was the "oh poo" moment from the staff about this team.

I remember a few us getting absolutely sh*tted on at the time for calling this out, saying "lol people b*tching about a preseason game" or "really guys, we are running vanilla plays", etc. Anybody with eyes could see that we were getting absolutely ramrodded by the other team's depth. It just felt different. There were times when our starters were getting manhandled by their 2nd and 3rd string guys. I had a really bad feeling about this season based on our preseason play alone.

Bryces arm, or lackthereof, was what shocked the hell out of me in that first game.

    • I fully expect them to pick up his 5th year , and they're waiting for him to put a full excellent consistent season of QB play in year 4 or 5. If that don't happen,  they'll eventually cut ties.  Here's to hoping he just goes on a team in 2026. The worst thing he could do is continue to see-saw us to around .500 records because it might be impossible to replace him at that point unless youre willing to do the veteran qb carousel poo we did from 2019 to 2023.
    • What do you think of Bryce Youngs career thus far? Are you excited about his progress or is it not enough for you? I included a poll of ranking his performance through 3 years thus far.  I personally think he's made some decent progress. Has had some high moments (last half of 2024, Rams game, ATL game in 2025)  but in my mind, those are still outweighed by the many more lowlights thus far (ex turnovers, missed throws, poor decisions)  It's a very mixed bag for me. He's done enough to get a 5th year option but by no means should we lock him in with a 50+ mil a year multi year deal. I want to see him play consistently well for a full year before that happens (yes, I'm still saying that going into year 4. That might be telling).  Just sucks when you see CJ Stroud, Jayden Daniel's, Caleb Williams almost immediately lighting poo up with their arm talent. Maybe Bryce is just an ultra slow burn. I don't know what to think anymore. Guess we're gonna be stuck with him for a whilr unless we end up being bad enough to earn a high pick next year. I doubted it lol. Overall Stats for his career:       ● 14 W - 30L (regular season)       ● 0-1 playoffs record        ● 61.4% completion, 8291 passing yards, 49 TDs, 30 INTs  Year 1:       ● 2 wins, 14 losses      ● 60% completion rate, 2877 passing yards, 11 TD to 10 INTs, 5.5 yards per attempted pass Year 2:        ● 4 wins , 8 losses        ● 60.9% completion rate,  2403 passing yards, 15 TD, 9 INTs,  6.3 yards per attempted pass  Year 3:        ● 8 Wins, 8 Losses         ● 63.6% competition rate, 3011 passing yards, 23 TDs to 11 INTs  Playoffs         ● 1 game in year 3 ( 0 - 1 in playoffs)         ● 21/40 (52.5% completion rate), 264 passing yards, 1 TD, 1 INT.
