How many of you would want to accept a job under the following conditions?

Everyone was basically let go for poor performance. Oh one small thing, there is a guy your boss wants to keep. This is a key position to your success . This employee has greatly under performed and isn’t necessarily your pick. Remember your job is to be successful but you have to use this one guy. Add in the last two people at your position was fired pretty quickly for lack of progress.

None of you would do that. You’d want to bring in who you think is best fitted for your style to succeed.

I fully agree. No new GM/HC pair is gonna hitch themselves to what was on film last season without a contingency.  Wouldn't be suprised if we make a late or mid-round pick for a qb.  Especially one that fits the style of the new HC.  Can always cover your tracks by saying you need to have multiple qbs that can play and point to the Browns situation to back up your claims.  From there you can start your contingency plan and look to the future if things get even worse.  Scapegoat is already fired no need to have to answer for the trade-up or whatever have you.

Best case scenario is that BY was truly the product of too many chef's in the kitchen and a scheme that didn't play to your strengths and he hits the potential that many believe he had pre-draft.

What new HC and GM would want to wear around their necks the very same albatross that dragged down their predecessors?

The pay packages had better be unprecedented, along with other perks such as free use of private jets and luxury yachts for the next ten years regardless whether they remain employed by the Panthers organization, trust funds for two generations of offsprings, a minimum of 5% ownership shares in Appaloosa Management, severance packages north of $20 million on top of guaranteed contract money, lifetime memberships at country clubs of their choosing, etc.

Happy Eddie Murphy GIF by Laff

This board is filled with ppl living in a bubble..

Reality check..

1. More than half the league had him as the number 1 QB coming out.. Meaning most of the ppl we are looking to hire thought he was the best QB in the draft..

2. Most of the league aren’t looking at this season as a BY issue.. The Panthers in many respected league analysts opinion were the problem not BY.. So it’s a good chance you will be able to find a coach that wanted to work with BY before this season and still does now..

3. Tepper will be more of a reason coaches and GM’s won’t come here before BY.. (Number 1 reason) imo

The Oline will be more of a reason coaches won’t come here then BY..

Having to rebuild the weapons around him will be a bigger reason ppl might say no then BY..

Ppl need to just prepare themselves for this reality..

You don't give up on a first overall pick after 1 season. Are y'all dumb

I mean i think its you who might be dumb. This type of stuff happens often, qb drafted high, old regime fired, new regime comes in and doesnt like prior qb, and benches him.

    • if  ANYONE actually goes & looks at the FACTS on rookie Qb's after 2 full seasons as a starter in the NFL & they are still well below average do they rarely ever actually become top tier Qb's & instead most likely either do not recieve a second contract & or become life long backups...just saying
    • So he became GM and decided not to address the weakness in the QB room following one of the worst rookie QB performances in NFL history?  There were options last season other than signing Dalton to a 2 year deal. Brissett and Jones by a wide margin, both of whom outplayed Bryce, Wilson, Winston, hell even Rivers off the couch was more exciting at the QB position. The time to address the failure in the QB room was last year but instead people on the Huddle cheered when we brought Dalton back then cheered when we were able to get anything for him after they finally realized he was washed up like a few of had been saying all along and got poo'd for even mentioning.  This year, the options were more limited obviously, especially since we lost Icky. It changed the dynamic of our draft. I think we were stuck this year keeping Bryce, but i still think giving him a 5th year option for what has amounted to replacement worthy performance was the wrong move. Why guarantee 25m if you're planning to replace him? You think he's going to want to be a bridge QB? Hell no. He's going to want out and we'll end up cutting him if he has another lackluster season because no one is trading for him with that price tag.  Were there better options as far as production available. A couple. Were there guys available with more physical tools than Bryce, Pickett or Grier, you damn well better believe there were. I've been saying all along, you always keep looking for your 1b. Bryce has yet to prove he can be a starter. Keep looking for someone who may. Put competition in camp. Let the best QB lead the team. Stop settling for less than mediocre.
