Do you want a Dan Campbell (leader of men) or Mike McDaniel (idiot savant) style of coach?

It’s becoming more and more apparent there’s two types of coaches in the NFL

Leader of men:

Campbell, Tomlin, Harbaugh, Ryan, Pierce, Vrabel

Idiot savants X’ and O’s type:

Mcdaniel, O’Connell, Shanahan, McVay, LaFleur

Personally I think the NFL is moving towards the idiot savant style coaches who rely on the roster to be made of players that execute their gameplan. But when the tough gets going these coaches don’t have that grit ability to get the max out of their players, they and their team fold (McDaniels and Dolphins easily come to mind).

With where this franchise is at right now with personnel, I’d say this franchise needs more of a leader of men style coach then a X’s and O’s tactician which is why we won’t get a Ben Johnson style of coach

Depends on the coach. All of them have positives and negatives. McDaniels' negative is his immaturity. I don't know how that plays out long term because it can improve even with his base personality.

I'll take a caoch that can adapt and change over time because when they stop trying it's a sign that their time is up. McDaniels might need a Reid type move next to help him take that step so Miami might not be getting the best of him.

I want someone who wins.

Honestly don't give a rat's ass whether they do so while acting like John Wayne or Jerry Lewis.

I totally agree, just need a coach that will produce.

Funny though, the millennials and Gen Z’s are thinking who the f___ is this John Wayne and Jerry Lewis.

    • The coaches can't figure out what to do with BY9 much less Leggette
    • There is a lot of talk about his IQ and his commitment to the game and this and that and no one can firmly say one way or another unless they are with him day to day. Not to mention the standards don't jive with the presented reasoning for defending Bryce Young’s rookie season and subsequent beginning of his sophomore season and third season to where we are now 40+ games as he is finally beginning to string together better QB play. When I think of Legette present day I think back to Ted Ginn being a pretty significant bust with the Dolphins as a 9th overall pick and then coming to Carolina (twice) and still struggling with the same mental errors on the field and Cam Newton going back to him again and again and again and even going to a Super Bowl with him as the #1 WR. Deactivating him is weak. Figure something out to his strengths for the rest of the season and reassess in the offseason.
    • I think the season has been a success.  I try to look back at what I said would be a successful season before week 1 and we have reached that.  The success though has you wanting more haha.  But we've had improvements and are right there fighting.  Bryce has improved which was a big thing we needed.  Hope we improves more obviously.  But I agree with others about Evero, unless we have an offense putting up 30 points a game I don't like this type of defense he has.  No pressure either.  The biggest issues I see with this team are, zero pressure on the QB, soft zones, and the horrible special teams play on kickoffs/return coverage.  So I wouldn't mind replacing Evero if someone better is available and definitely get someone new running special teams.  When you combine Evero's defense and the fact we allow teams such good field position often it's a bad match.  Overall, we have won 8 games which is crazy.
