Hard not to expect nothing other than pessimism for any move the organization makes. We have six years of data on Tepper. He's 31-68 and every move has been an utter disaster. Good luck to Dan - he's going to need it.

I just can't get past the disconnect between "we are the worst destination" and "why aren't we getting the shiny object candidate "

This was a very predictable and uninspiring hire. I don’t see how anyone can be excited by this. It’s not like we plucked him from Philly or SF. He had his input on designing arguably the worst team in history and probably signed off on many of the idiotic and poor roster moves the past year. 
 

yes, he deserves a fair shot now that he obviously passed the very vigorous hiring process but prove me wrong.

Excitement is irrelevant. Excitement was abundant last year. This will take a lot of  hard grunt work to fix.

Don’t worry about it
