The goobers talking about trading Thielen, the one reliable wide receiver on the team, are probably the same ones who thought trading CMC was smart. Wrong in both cases. Very wrong.

dude will be 34 next year, thats ancient for a wideout, if you can get any decent compensation for him you do it.  We aint winning poo next year so might as well try and get something.  He is not a long term part of this franchise

They aren't trading Young's security blanket.  Could you imagine how much worse Bryce would have looked without Thielen?  Woof!

I think we are going to upgrade across the board so we wont need him and I doubt a 34 year old wr produces like that again.  Father time is undefeated.  Not sure what his trade value would be but it wouldnt hurt to at least see what he could fetch and he might not even want to be here next year.   IMO we are tracking as a 5ish win team in 2024

Considering his age and contract figure...small, microscopic even.  I'm not against putting feelers out there, but the best case scenario is trading to a team that loses a slot WR in camp or early in the year to a significant injury.  Given the draft and FA, his market will be virtually non-existent for a trade.

You will see. Just like all the TMJ fanbois saw.

Just keep in mind that my issue is not that you are saying that Mingo will never be a WR1 or even a high end WR2, my issue is that you called him a bust and not an NFL-level receiver. I would hardly call myself a Mingo fanboi, but I think he can be an effective possession receiver if developed.

If you like, look at the vid beginning at about the 16 minute mark.

Sure if having a "possession" WR was a thing in most modern NFL offenses. We keep getting these outdated players. Most modern offenses are about creating space for an offensive player not throwing to a completely covered guy and hoping he makes a contested catch. That's fundamentally a lower percentage play.

Not to mention, even if that was actually a valuable commodity, he isn't a good version of that archetype.

Is it still POSSIBLE he pans put? Sure. Based on what I have seen, it seems highly improbable.

Also, why would we think it's likely a guy taken from worst talent evaluation era in franchise history is going to pan out?

Different eras, but Mingo is where Moose was after 22 games.  I would not expect a Rookie to show #1 WR skills (rarely does that happen--maybe Chase in Cincy?) but I think he has #2 WR potential.  With Thielen in the slot, we need a #1.   At this time, there is no reason to call him a bust or make him a future star.  I will say that if we build the OL, the WRs, QBs, TEs, and RBs "improve."

First line of business in WR room, clean out TMJ's locker and show him where the exit door is. I wouldn't even validate his damn parking garage ticket.

See Ya Goodbye GIF by Gerbert!

I get it we all love to rag on our bust picks but idk why you'd ever cut him before rosters have to be at 53. Its the last year of his rookie deal, the money is already guaranteed. Bring him to camp.

Possession receivers are still in the modern NFL. What in the world?

Hell, Tee Higgins is a possession receiver. Mike Evans is a possession receiver.  Puka Nacua is a possession receiver.

Come on, man.

Just because WE need a quick twitch route runner with some speed does not negate the skills of the other receivers in the room. And some guys are just better at certain things than others. For example (and I've said it before), Tee Higgins is like a jump ball god that makes 50-50 throws into 75-25.

As for Mingo, he has pluses and minuses, but he's still developing. It's a wonder that he put up 400 yards in such an awful offense in his rookie season. This is not to say that he'll ever be a WR1 or 2, but I find it incredulous that you're writing him off so soon as an NFL-caliber receiver, particularly considering the circumstances.

So we’re you one of the ones ok with trading CMC? Don’t make me look, just admit it goob lol.

Not everyone in the team has to be a long term player. Thielen would be valuable next season for sure.

You really think CMC would have helped us? Dude would have played 4 or 5 games with Bryce and sat on IR the rest of the season. He wanted out, they just wasted the picks we got off of him,

I think we should draft a WR.  Mingo and Theilen would IMO be the only ones I would keep.  TMJ is a bust.

I want a WR that's fast but is smart and can run routes.  A great example is Puka Nacau.  What a great find in Round 5.

Speaking of which.  We need to hit on some lower round prospects.  I don't think we've had a good hit on a lower round since Andrew Norwell.

Agreed.  I can't thinkof one player we drafted with those picks that made an impact.  We were stupid enough to take 2nds instead of 1st round picks.
