2024 Wide Receivers

Tez Walker can get deep and is naturally gifted player but is very unproven.  No telling what he does in the league but should go 3rd or later IMO.  People that have him in the first are forcing something IMO

I like Franklin or Polk at #33.  We may double dip at WR, but with only six picks, I doubt it.

I wouldn’t be mad at double dipping. This draft is DEEP at WR, and interior oline. Exactly what we need to hit on.

Realistically, it helps to know what we will have at the position in 2024.

  • Thielen (unless he requests a trade and is given one, he will be here.  Bryce counts on him, but he should not be much more than a #2.)
  • Mingo  (He had nearly 500 yards in a dysfunctional offense.  That is a high percentage of Bryce's total passing yards. He will improve.)
  • TMJ  (It makes little since to not give him one last shot with the new offense.  Sometimes players prosper)
  • Smith Marsette  (I like him, but as the fifth WR.  He too is in the 6-1 range and runs a 4.42 ish 40. He has less beef than the others.)

we are going to sign a free agent and draft 2, imo--

I can’t see any reason to keep TMJ here.  Smith M either, or Chark or Shenault

Lot of work to do IMO

If Troy Franklin is available at 33 (I really can't see the Chiefs passing on him though). I think he is a very realistic target. He is a type of WR we really need on this team. Can play the X and stretch the field. Would free up Mingo to move to the slot where he is probably best suited longterm for his career

I'd keep ISM for cheap.  He didn't get involved until the end of the year and he flashed some potential.  Plus he has stated he wants to stay here with Bryce and we just gave up draft capital for him last year.  As a bonus he is a decent punt returner.

To me Ladd is a slot like AT and Mingo.  We really need a legit outside WR or two.  There is a lot to like about Ladd's game though.

I can see why many say that, and I agree somewhat, but Ladd has that sneaky speed, so he's not handcuffed to the slot. His route running is second to none in my opinion. He has some twitch and smoothness to his game as well. He puts me in the mind of an upgraded Cooper Kupp. Even if people don't agree, I can guarantee that he's the type of player that you want or your team as opposed to playing against him.

There is a trend in the NFL of pairing college WRs and QBs back up in the NFL (Borrow/Chase, Murray/Brown, Tua/Waddle, Hurts/Smith, Carr/Adams, etc...) so do the Panthers target Jermaine Burton.  Speed, hands and quickness are his calling cards and he does track the deep ball well but he does pick up a bunch of unnecessary taunting penalties (dog or liability?) and I don't see consistent YAC ability at least on tape.  Probably a late Day 2 early Day 3 guy right now depending on how those on-field character issues are viewed.

I really enjoyed watching him in college, was one of my fave WRs during the season. He’s got the true game breaking style we desperately need.

Adonai Mitchell is the savier route runner but less of the home run hitter.

Those are the two I like at 33.

McMillan and a few others a bit later in a double dip would be awesome with an OL in between would be my ideal scenario.

    • He is a QB, on a rookie deal and Cousins is old coming off an achilles injury. Which QB they got is the part that is highly debatable if it was good. Yeah they could have used that on more tallent but Cousins doesn't win in the postseason so it wouldn't matter anyways. Chances are good they take the NFCS regardless this year or it goes back to a Bucs team that just breaks .500.
