Looks like we get to keep Ejiro Evero!

Great news if he wants to be here! The defense should hopefully get better just by injured players returning and maybe an addition along the line. If the defense stays solid and in the same scheme they can focus more on retooling the offense.

Rebuilding, not retooling.  There's no tools to retool. The only tool on the team is Tepper.

He’s blocking him front interviewing for DC jobs that he’d probably like to take.

He’s not blocking him. The standard is that teams aren’t allowed to unilaterally interview and hire coaches under contract with other teams for lateral positions or demotions. If Evero wants to breach his contract, then he can. The contract will have very clear terms laid out for breach by either party and what the penalties are. Evero signed the contract of his own free will.

I don't think Evero is stomping his feet or will be a problem even if it's true that he would rather be able to pick his next job this year instead of next.  We don't even know if he would rather be DC of another team.  This is more speculation because we have blocked him from 3 other lateral moves for DC but he has had quite a few HC interviews.  A few of them were twice with the same club.

This also happens a lot in the corporate world outside of the NFL if you are under contract with a company and are considered an asset.

Evero strikes me as the type of guy that doesn't waste time with things he can't control or negative emotions that don't further him in his goals or doing his job well.

He could very well be extremely happy with staying as the defense has a lot of talent and we'll add a few more pieces.  Year two with talent could be a better position to be in that a new DC of another team where he starts all over and has to install his system.

We don't know his feelings and I expect he will not tell us.  We may get a "I'm going to always give my best in whatever opportunity is in front of me" and I think he'll coach that way no matter his true feelings.

The Giants, Dolphins and Jaguars requested interviews for their DC position. We blocked Eviro from interviewing with them. I don’t know how else to explain that to you.

    • I would say that seems like an odd comment from Morgan, but at the same time it's almost impossible to find a college QB declaring for the draft to have less physical ability than BY so you can assume almost anyone you bring in would be your go to QB sneak/designed run guy.
    • Gronk is the best TE of all time, but he also played with Brady. Clarke was great, but had Peyton and in an era TE's didn't make crazy money. Kittle is great, but the two times he's made the SB, he was still on his rookie contract for one, and the other the 49ers had Purdy on a cheap rookie deal which help them build the rest of the roster. So again, it's not about not wanting an elite TE, of course it would be nice.  But realistically, in today's NFL, unless that elite TE with a top end TE salary is on a team with a GOAT level QB and/or other serious cap savings (i.e. key players on rookie deals), then I think it's not a good use of cap space.
    • This place was the poo pre tepper with tons of hilarious posters like phillyB. Joined in the 2000s during the 07 season and have been here bitching about this team since. but yeah its sadly been dying a slow death, every time I come to this site I am surprised its still up. I think the 2015 season was the absolute peak, the Panthers and this board especially just haven't "felt" the same since then. Igo should really sell the board since he clearly doesn't care anymore. Also, Reddit blows and the Bryce defenders on there need Jesus.
