Personnel moves to win NFC South

If all they wanted to do was win the NFCS, its pretty simple

Power running offense

Bryce only throws 20-25 passes a game, he's decent at 3rd down throws to move the chains

Draft best available offensive or defensive lineman at 33, or if a middle linebacker falls take him instead

Play stout defense and run the ball

Bryce would have taken the 2022 Panthers to playoffs IMO under the McAdoo scheme

Problem is this style of play rarely wins a playoff game

That offense worked for a few games this year. Scored how many points in the 200 yard rushing game? Chuba nor Sanders breaks tackles, suck inside the 5, and would be better off as pass catching rbs in a WCO.

Who knows how the defense will hold up when played against aggressively, every team knew they only needed 17-20 points. Was there a single trick play an opponent did all year? Score first and they win.

You dont trade away what we did in order to be able to run a QB hiding power run offense.

Bryce needs to not fuging be the worst starting QB next season.

That's why I said if that's all they wanted to do was try to win the NFC South

They can Mitch Trubisky him and probably do it

I think Bryce will be fine. If not, we'll have a top 5 pick and just try again

The only way we can win with Bryce is try to hide the QB position. Sucks, but it is what it is. We gotta start moving the offense more toward what Bryce might be able to work with. Quicker WRs that can get open fast and create YAC. Try to find a redzone TE weapon. Improve the OL talent. If Bryce doesn't look significantly better next year you gotta move on.

With that said, I fully expect to be talking about '25 QB prospects before the leaves change in the fall.

There where times when teams loaded the box with 9 guys and dared Bryce to pass last season. He does not have the required arm strength to operate in a Run heavy PA focused offense.

I do not think Bryce will be fine and fine isnt winning poo in todays NFL without an all star cast like Purdy has.

    • Yes, he's a tier above them, but you also touched on the money side of it.  With T-Mac locked in as our #1 on a rookie contract for a few more years, I'd much rather use that money that would be needed for DJ on our defense and develop Coker into our #2.   Especially given his contract situation as an UDFA, as his contract is up at the end of this year but we can keep him around for a 3rd team controlled year on the real cheap.  Which means we probably could get him to sign a very reasonable extension this offseason to give him a little more money while giving us a bargain contract for what he provides. DJ's contract is north of $20 million for the next 5 years, why pay that for your #2 WR with the needs we have on defense and you have guys like Coker, XL, and Horn on rookie contracts who very well could combine to be a serviceable 2-4 WRs behind a stud in T-mac? I love DJ and he'd be a great fit on this team as our #2, but the money side of it just makes absolutely zero sense, that's all it comes down to for me on this one. And no, I don't see the Bears wanting XL back in that trade, because they drafted Burden, who is essentially a better version of what XL provides, a player you want to get the ball into their hands and let them go to work.
    • I didnt see that many bad calls in the panthers cowboys game, but the chiefs especially in the playoffs were getting every single call they could get then the refs when it didnt matter would throw a call towards the other teams.  That I believe was the taylor swift effect.   But its crazy just thinking about how easy it is to change a game.  You dont need but a single ref to make a few close calls go towards one team over the other and in the nfl that is the game.
    • I don't think it's unrealistically blaming Bryce Young......to say has been a reason, sometimes a big one, in why our pass offense overall has been extremely week over the past 3 collective seasons.  I think that bothering anyone, is just being overly invested in some Bryce Young argument.  It's just a reality.
