In a deep qb class should the panther take one day 3?

The goal should always be developing talent and improving the roster. If there's a QB that we think could develop into a solid backup or potential starter, we need to be looking at him. Every player is 1 hit from their career being over. It's foolish to just assume that Bryce, CJ or AR don't fall into that category just because they're young.

Eh, maaaaybe but it currently this doesn't look like a stellar mid/back of the draft class.

Austin Reed and, if I squint, Kurtis Rourke are the only ones that fit the bill. Smaller school, good numbers early and throughout  career. Neither are some super duper 24 pushing 25 year old guy either. Reeds my guy this cycle for finding the overlooked QB.

I was ok with Milton, but unless somehow he morphs way more than tyrod or Allen, he's a switch to another position guy. I'm off his bandwagon completely now

Don't see tuga being the next Purdy. Pratt is a long shot. I know he's the sleeper of the class for some. But the senior bowl wasn't the breakout he and the draftniks expected.

We will get 2 players in this draft if we are lucky.  This is going to sound crazy, but I see WR and a CB on day 2.

On day 3, BPA all the way.  In my mocks, there are a lot of DTs, WRs, and QBs who could tempt Morgan.

I don't think so. We just drafted the wrong guy.

Well yeah if you're considering CJ he's like basically a top 10 qb already. Just saying the roster wasn't exactly playoff ready minus a qb like Fitt was making it out to be in his pressers

No, they should not unless they have one at the top of their board, and they should only have one there after they've addresses all of the holes in the team's talent and depth. Even Hekker got a scary hit to the knee, and he was the team's best player this year.

If Bryce plays again like he did this year, throwing in a 5th round QB in week 13 or 14 "to see what he has" does nothing for the team but set up the back-up QB off-season competition between he and Bryce after the #1 pick in '25.

The odds are greater for Day 3 picks to make impact elsewhere on the field. Picking your future backup should not be a draft priority.

as bad as this roster is currently, nearly every pick should be BPA. If that ends up being a qb in a later round, so be it. but if bryce shits the bed next season, we should be picking early in '25 and grabbing a high, 1st round qb

i'd rather see the draft capital spent filling other holes this year

Why wouldn't he? He's "allowed" throwing resources at QB every single year since 2020. Too much hax been one of the biggest problems. A later round puck would be the least wasteful things he's "allowed "

A later round “puck” might be “allowed”?

    • Another source: NFL Rumors: Hakeem Butler to Visit Panthers After UFL Success, Wade Phillips' Praise ZACH BACHAR JUNE 10, 2024 The Carolina Panthers are expected to conduct a workout with UFL wide receiver Hakeem Butler, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. Butler recorded a league-leading 652 receiving yards as a member of the St. Louis Battlehawks. He was previously a fourth-round draft pick by the Arizona Cardinals in 2019. After the Battlehawks were defeated by the San Antonio Brahmas in the XFL Conference title game, Brahmas head coach and longtime NFL coach Wade Phillips told the receiver that "I'm going to tell everybody in the NFL that I talk to that you need to be playing," via Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk. Despite the loss by St. Louis, Butler still hauled in six receptions for a team-high 59 receiving yards. The 28-year-old was named the 2024 UFL Offensive Player of the Year, as he was one of only two wideouts to have multiple games with at least 100 receiving yards. While the Panthers added Diontae Johnson and first-round rookie Xavier Legette to their wide receiver room in the offseason, they could still use some depth in the form of Butler. Carolina isn't opposed to picking up former UFL players, as Rapoport revealed on Thursday that the team is also "expected" to sign All-UFL receiver Daewood Davis. Although Butler was selected by the Cardinals in the 2019 draft, he did not play as a rookie due to a hand injury and only appeared in two regular-season games as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles in 2020. He did not record a catch. Butler signed with the Pittsburgh Steelers during the 2023 offseason, although he ultimately didn't make the team's regular-season roster. At 6'5", he has the frame to potentially make an impact in training camp and earn a shot at making Carolina's 53-man roster. If his workout goes well with the Panthers, Butler could give himself another chance to possibly return to the NFL.
    • They have all the rookies. The DC game has Ron though. With the new QB. It is weird.  pantherclaw, Bryce sort of is what he is, and in Madden he makes throws the real Bryce can’t make. Here and there. He ain’t ain’t a top QB in Madden though, lots of picks. aone of them lol was the throw that scares the hell out of me when he throws it, out to the boundary... quack quack.
