I'll add this...

I love a good story as much as anyone but Shanahan and Lynch probably need to let go of the idea that they can win championships with Brock Purdy.

He's a good quarterback, but not a great one.

kyle shanahan needs to be OC, or have an OC that can over rule him. cause they again let one go that should not have. It wasnt brock or ryan at fault either loss. Maybe like his dad, Kyle gets it after this one, but idk. like his pops, run the ball with TD got 2 SBs and elway made the plays they needed. could rode the offensive player of the year and a good/great line to this one too. Also had 3 bad breaks tonight, CMC fumbled, the punt hitting a cover guy, blocked PAT. idk how thats brock. brock did more than enough tonight.

He would look like Kyle Allen here without his 4 elite weapons, elite OL and elite offensive HC (yes Shanahan has some poor in game decision making but he is an incredible offensive mind. Hell he got Matt friggin Ryan an MVP).

I don't think Wilks lost the game if the extra kick hadn't been blocked they would have won

Maybe, but at the same time, if the xp had been made then KC plays the last drive in regulation differently. Instead of kicking the field goal from inside the 10, they have at least one and maybe two shots at a td.  Mahomes with two shots at the end zone inside the ten yard probably means they have at least a 50/50 chance at a td.

If you blaming Wilks after watching that game you clearly don't know football.

Purdy is simply not elite at QB. The Niners had a better offense and defense. They loss the most important battle the QB position!

Put any other elite QB with that talent and this SB isn't even close. Niners need to find a real QB and stop depending on these QB's who can't win the big game.

It's no excuses why the 49ers shouldn't have won that game.

Don't know that I'd go that far.

I give Wilks credit for calling a good game overall but in the end it wasn't quite good enough.

It was the equivalent to a team giving up a lead via multiple penalties and defensive collapse and then blaming the kicker for not nailing a 60 yarder to win the game by less than a score.

Because the Chiefs made adjustments and marched down the field their final 2 possessions. One settled for a FG due to time and the next was the game winner. Mahomes also had 400 total yards. So yeah…

Wtf does that have to do with claiming Wilks called a good game and should have been our HC? You’re acting like that loss contradicts my point. It doesn’t.

Overall I do not blame Wilks for the loss. For the most part his defense was damn good. That final drive though he and the rest of them got schooled rough though.

What the game boiled down to was despite the cries by some "player only" fans here that McCaffrey was robbed of league MVP he actually wasn't. You need that elite QB or it's all for nothing.

There are only 3, maybe 4 QBs who can win the Super Bowl. How do you suggest the 49ers should improve Brock Purdy. Trade for Joe Burrow or Josh Allen? Like be real here

Purdy is Kirk Cousins tier at best. For where he was drafted? That's pretty good.

But hardly anyone had Mahomes or Allen as the best QB's in their respective drafts.

I don't know why there are so many Purdy fans here. I have suspicions. But they can kick rocks until September all the same.

My “suspicion” is that the dude was drafted dead last and people like a good underdog story. He also generally seems humble, not making a spectacle of himself which is also a quality people appreciate.

Some just like him because CMC plays for them.

Some are dug in on Purdy because they like his "Rudy" story of ascendance from a QB not in the usual physical mold who can show QB's like Lamar Jackson who don't actually deserve MVP how to play the position. Call it what it is.

Sure seems like you're trying awfully hard to put words in people's mouths. Why?

I think Purdy is a JAG but a JAG starting QB with the last pick in the draft is a phenomenal steal. I get why a lot of people like him even though I think it's pretty clear he's the limiting factor for that team.

    • Just another 1st round QB that never paid off for the team that drafted them or traded for them. It's been like this since the SB began. 36 QBs have now won the SB & only 13 of them have been 1st rounders winning with their original team. Namath 1968, Griese 1972, Bradshaw 1974, McMahon 1985, Simms 1986, Aikman 1992, Elway 1997, Roethlisberger 2005, P.Manning 2006, E.Manning 2007, Rodgers 2010, Flacco 2012, & Mahomes 2019. Only 3 have taken longer than 5 seasons as the starter to win a SB.  4  6  5  4  6  4  15  2  9  4  3  5  2 [the years it takes for these 1st round QBs] 5  1  4  1  3  1  1  2  3  4  [10 of the 36 have won a chip with their 1st team that haven't been drafted in the 1st round. These are the years it took them as a starter] What stands out? Only 2 of these QBs have lost their first championship appearance. Elway took 4 years as a 1st rounder & Hurts took 2 years as a 2nd rounder. Of the 10 non-1st round QBs, 2 are 2nd rounders, 3 are 3rd rounders, 5 are 6th rounders or later. Please stop wasting time on drafting 1st round QBs with such a high failure rate. The remaining 13 QBs are traded or free agent signings. Stafford, Favre, Young, Williams and Dawson are the 5 trades. Peyton Manning & Tom Brady also won for teams as free agents on a short stay as well as being drafted. The lesson here is don't waste your franchise on farming up 1st rounders for the league, and steer clear of trading for a franchise QB. Stick to finding that championship QB by drafting them outside of the 1st round or through free agency.
    • I lost most of the respect I had for Fox in 2010. He should have resigned if he hated the job that much. Instead he stuck for his paycheck and let stuff go to hell.    I burned out on Ron too but my deal breaker issue with him was away from football and after he was gone from the Panthers. He may have been out of his depth but never quit on us.
    • From where they were one year ago to now, pretty incredible. I mean, say what you want about Vrabel he is no Jerrod Mayo.
