Personally, I did not like the hire one bit.  Prove me wrong, Danno.

I was highly skeptical. Still am.

Ditto. I didn’t like the hire because he’s been Fitterer’s right hand man through some horrible decisions. I was hoping for someone who’s been involved in several solid drafts.

Hopefully, he proves us wrong but there was literally nothing you can look at in his assistant GM role here that gives you hope.

Eh I don’t know a damn thing about hiring for these positions tbh, and I’d say 99% of us here don’t either, so I just hope it works out.

This.
I Have no clue. Just hope everything gels and the voice of reason in the room isn’t based on who has the biggest bank account. If it is the case he is destined to fail.

if that isn’t the case then he has a chance to succeed.

The job doesn’t seem difficult to me. The problem is these roles require a large amount of boot licking and good ol boy networking to get. If you didn’t play football or weren’t football adjacent you will not be considered. They only allow guys like that to work with the monies.

While none of us know,  I think Morgan got the job because he was the dissenting voice in some or most of the bad personnel decisions and time has proven him correct

I think "hope" is a more accurate way to state this.  We have no basis to think he was a dissenting voice, but we can hope that he was.  That pretty much sums up Dan Morgan for better or worse: Hope.

If nothing else, he's seen up close and personal what bad decisions look like.  I'm rooting for Dan, Dave and the Panthers.  I want to see our team get better and be fun to watch again.

I've enjoyed the hopeim that the NFL has spun for us.  Good lord these guys make me hopeful.  But I'm also careful not to get too wrapped up in that.  Burned too often.

Hopefully, things work out.  I want a fun Panthers team again.

    • When I tell people I was at that game, they usually say oh that’s so cool you had the experience. I call it soul crushing. Why? The weeks and months leading up to it were great, the team was fun to watch every week…some weeks the offense was unstoppable and carried the team (saints and giants road games), other times the defense carried the load (jaguars, tampa). Lots of back and forth games against good teams (Seattle and Indy). Good young players on the team, but the veteran leadership was incredible…from Cam, Olsen, Kalil and J Stew to Luke, TD, Norman, Tillman, Jared Allen, CJ. Role players like Fozzy Whitaker, Cotchery (he caught that MFer), Philly brown, Kyle love, AJ Klein, and so on.  The Friday before the nfc championship my wife and I after a few drinks said let’s see what prices look like for flights/accommodations and we got to talking about how much prices would increase if we waited until we found out if we would be in the big game. We said screw it, we are only out $200 if we have to cancel.  Of course we come out and just pulverized the cardinals in front of the most raucous crowd by far we’ve ever had. We had no idea what we would do for game tickets and then found out a neighbor who worked for the team could get us 2 for face value (each employee got two of their own for free, something cool that JR did).  But then the NFL mafia decided that the storyline of manning going out on top like Elway would give them more goodwill than a non traditional QB who didn’t connect with their target demo and the rest is history. I never have and never will watch that game again. I am just hoping I can see them win one in the 2nd half of my life.
    • Dude you are smart fan. 3 on 0 breakaways won’t matter who is in net. You gotta be better on this one.
    • Raiders are gonna get a good one. Rather have Mendoza fly out and play for the Panthers tomorrow than Bryce
