I imagine Carolina will still spend one of their Day 2 picks on a C. Corbett has played the role but seems to perform better at OG hence why he has been placed there by the Browns and Rams prior.

You hearing anything one who else they will sign? I know there was speculation about Queen.

I am seeing it. They are overkilling the weakness. They have to be right, to start with, maybe they are.

But this is like trading everything last year to fix QB and you saw what we got. A poor decision, a LOT of hype and they now have torn down the defense and are emptying the coffers to cover for it.

So we’ll see. It was real fun buying some 1st day OL, for sure.

I also know I love my defense as much as I love my OL. In a way this is like turning down two picks for Burns, it didn’t really cost us until later on. Like today. This is going to something we really pay for later. When we have no freaking D and a game manager.

Gotta love their devotion to fix the oline.

Like I said earlier the approach is a solid one but the execution is what matters. I like where their head is at though.

In and around 2010, the Saints were a very good team.  They had a QB named "Brees" and he was considered rather short--  They build a stud OL in front of him, no players more costly and studly than Evans and Nicks--the Guards.

I read an article about them, and Sean. Payton said, (paraphrasing)--Drew Brees is only effective if you keep the pressure to the outside--not up the middle.  If outside, he learned to step up a little and deliver the ball.  Brees did not have a rocket arm, but he had WRs like Colston, Dev. henderson, and Lance Moore to go with TEs Jimmy Graham and Shockey.

I have a feeling this is the blueprint.

Dang Snow, why you gotta kill my optimism with reality?

Shame, shame, shame...

Got to keep your feet on the ground my friend.  This thing ain't over yet. This is still the Panthers we are talking about here.

Well, that works too! Bring on Ladd and VP. Can he be had for the 3rd?

That is what the consensus seems to be. Early 3rd for VP.

If we can go Ladd at 33, pick your poison of (Fiske, Pearsall, Darius Robinson, Payton Wilson, Tampa, Other WR) at 39 and VP to start the 3rd I would be thrilled.

    • Oh it's nothing elite, but we played without Horn last year.  Gilly playing at 80% is better than any CB2 we have had in a moment.  Luvu was fun, but he was out of position in Evero's defense.  Jewell is a tackling machine and has had over 100 in 3 of his last 4 with his highest being at Denver with Evero.  Pass Rushing and CBs are strong red flags but they also were last year.  On paper it's the same or maybe slightly better than last year and Evero had them keeping us in some games.  Hell our 2 wins were due to the defense and the kicking game.
    • I mean best case scenario is horn plays 15ish games, brown and clowney replicate last years stats, we sign gilmore and he reverts back to form after his injury but even then we still lack pass rush and our linebackers are dogshit.  And thats best case.  If horn goes down and if clowney starts showing his age then it could get ugly.  We are going to miss the tenacity of luvu.
    • Well you have year 2 of the new scheme so several players should be more comfortable.   Vs last year DL we added Robinson to play DE giving Brown a solid presence on the other side, plus he is familiar with Evero (I don't like Shy at NT but he was there last year too)  LB- Clowney and Wonnum are more complete/probably better than Burns and YGM, Jewell and Shaq are better than Luvu and whatever random guy from the streets we had playing last and again Jewell is familiar with Evero CB- This is a big red flag but vs last year we kept Hill at slot, we lost Henderson and replaced him with Jackson which seems like a wash to me.  If we can sign Gilly I will consider this upgraded but as of now it's a weakness and a wash Safety- Fuller replaces Bell as an upgrade who is also familiar with Evero.  I think we signed another vet in Scott as depth   Depth is still an issue no doubt but it looks slightly better on paper than last year IMO...
