Justin Fields traded for bag of chips, why couldn’t we get Gerber competition?

By the looks, he's cut and stays home for awhile......then a QB injury hits and he's called for a try-out only.

I mean Im not a fan (just like fields, Howell, Pickett, etc) but he's got elite skills and I don't just say that. 2nd overall and just a awful big city fit. He's still young.

Plus if you look at the last 4 drafts and focus on QBs, my God it's a horror show!! Like 2 decent picks and 25 terrible ones....WHY would any team trade up with those odds...Just wait a year or two and send a late 6th and the 3rd overall pick in 2022 is yours.....lance, Pickett, fields, Wilson, etc etc etc.

I think that's because of how overly simplified college offenses are now.

You're essentially getting QBs that need an entire extra year of development even more so  over how they were done in the past.

Could explain why we see mediocre QBs become serviceable backups by like year 5.

Just more evidence we are all in on Young and why I can never be excited about any moves we make as long as he is the QB.

May as well just not even have a backup QB since they refuse to even play them when the starter is out there stinking it up.

Dalton could have won us a few games last year that were close that Young struggled in.

That would have been completely pointless

Trying to win is never pointless until you're out of the playoff run.

So now we pivot to not starting the first overall pick we traded for. The Huddle would have shititspants

There is no shame anymore in these debates.

It's not about not starting them. It's about pulling them when they're playing badly.

If someone is making the right reads but can't hit the broad side of a barn then you put in the hot hand. Nothing wrong with trying to win the day and coaching afterwards. If it wrecks their confidence then they're weak in the first place.

Greg Hardy was selected by the Carolina Panthers in the sixth round (175th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft.

He was awesome til he’s legal crap sent him in a downward spiral!! Hope Fields lights it up for Steelers!! I think Caleb is over rated another Prescott!

And drafting them too.

Drafting is at least a gamble that there is a chance to win.  It will always be a risk but trading for qbs who have had multiple seasons to show who they are in the nfl will pretty much never be a win.

    • Ehh NYR had more scoring opportunities and Florida is healthy with an elite net minder. Only fault I have on Rod is his goalie decision. At some point, the players deserve some balme.
    • I went to McDonald's at lunch got a combo for $12. It was ok. The next day I ordered lunch from Cracker Barrel got the broccoli cheddar chicken, steak fries, and 2 biscuits paid $12 with tip. Guess which was better.
