OT Yosh Nijman to the Panthers

He was a rotational left tackle for GB last year after David Bakhtiari went down.

……….

“Although there is value in having experienced depth, Nijman had two opportunities last season to earn the starting snaps outright and failed to do so. It somewhat feels like the writing is on the wall when it comes to his time in Green Bay.

With 13 pressures allowed in only 157 pass-blocking snaps, Nijman ranked 88th out of 135 eligible tackles in PFF’s pass-blocking efficiency metric. He ranked 75th in run-blocking grade. In short, Nijman was far more inconsistent than what the team was hoping for in their fourth-year tackle.

The Packers have also been building their tackle depth with Caleb Jones essentially red-shirting for two seasons, along with having Luke Tenuta, who was on the 53-man roster in 2022 and injured in 2023. Both are on a similar developmental path as what Nijman was on when he first joined the team in 2019 as an undrafted rookie.

This also happens to be a very deep offensive tackle draft class. In Daniel Jeremiah’s initial top 50 draft prospect rankings, eight offensive tackles were listed in the top 31 players.

So he's actually not good at all.

I don't think I've seen a player acquisition posted with a high RAS score that turned out well for us.

Chinn for a year lol

Burns

CMC..somewhat

DJ Moore

Pretty much everyone we traded or let walk. Barno's a 9+ iirc... but I get your point. The last OT I remember seeing a 9+ on was Greg Little. We all know how that turned out...

Bright side is, this guy is already proven(to an extent). Gives BC some competition and improves our depth.

This is the type of signing I go for. Read his wiki- https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yosh_Nijman

Packers thought enough to place a 2nd round tender on him in 2023. Got valuable RT&LT snaps. Arod gave him his blessing publicity, he's not known for doing that.

Seems like a good spot starter and swing guy on game day.

3rd time I liked Danny boys moves, speaking of which- https://www.packers.com/video/yosh-nijman-gives-a-breakdown-of-his-robot-dance

    • wow.  You know folks on the huddle are desperate when this sort of shi is being used to pump themselves up.
    • I don't care all that much about stats. What I care about is how did he look on the field, and that was poor-to-average for everything but the second half of the GB game. Carolina was losing every game... of course there were some passing stats generated.  What is missing here is quantification of how many times these QBs showed something worthwhile justifying the #1 pick. That Manning season gets tossed out a lot, and while there were a lot of interceptions and not many wins, Manning absolutely looked like an NFL QB that just needed some seasoning to take the next step, which he did that following year. Bryce had little to none of that on an individual basis.  While this is an interesting table, it tells only a fraction of the story.
    • I thought Winston was going to be a 10-15 year problem, sooo glad he went the better josh Freeman route. I mean prime Ryan, brees, and if Winston became that guy........Id hate to be a DC for Carolina.   The main deal is 1st overall pick goto the worse teams.  Looking at the list only Burrow has been able to break the loser mentally fog over those teams. Goff was reborn for the lions and you could make a case for him, but 2nd team. Luck and Cam are about the same, injuries ended great runs.  Burrow should get more MVP votes.
