It bothers me that we have no LBs on this list---we have NO Depth there.  IMO, we take a RB here when would should be drafting a LB.  But with so many needs, it is difficult to cover all bases.

I would bet money that only 2 of the Panthers draft picks this year work out for them, if they're lucky.  So anyone thinking the team will get more than 1 starter has their expectations way too high.

so here’s the league model: build a veteran offense and once that’s ready to go and is eating your money you get a bunch of first contract guys on defense

theres a reason they signed a bunch of veterans on defense this offseason-because once this team is presumably ready to go all in over the next season or two-you can field a competitive team with a well paid offense and cheap athletic rookies who can fly all over the field on defense.

anyways the point is that you’ve got to go offense heavy this draft. I’m not worried about defense in this draft. Maybe one guy in the first four picks.

Edit: obviously these guys would receive rookie contracts now but would be much closer to reupping in the process overall a couple seasons from now. The big money will likely be thrown at offensive guys in free agency as you saw this past FA period.

The first two rounds are typically starter level players. After that it's mainly rotational or depth guys. Which, we need a ton of depth, as well.

If they even work out. The odds are just not there for it to go any other way.

    • No, he has a long way to go to be that--I think he is probably referring to his ceiling--I think Legette has more room to grow from where he is that those more polished WRs.  When you look at his potential, it presents an argument that is not so one sided.  Of those three, only Odunze had a higher RAS score 9.92.  XL had a 9.90.  Malik Nabors had a 9.67.  Harrison Jr.  did not have one.  I am not sure that Legette has not overcome more obstacles to be where he is, and if you consider his adversity, his story might be more incredible, even though he is only a second tier rookie right nowm with Mitchell, Thomas, Pearsall, and maybe McConkey.  I am going from memory-but you have to think of things as a kid-when he was 16, his mother died of breast cancer.  When he entered S Carolina, his father died.  They had some issues and QB problems and the OL was terrible in Columbia---the others you mentioned?  None of that family drama, and they played at Washington, Ohio State, and LSU.  Huge difference.  I am proud of him as a man--when all his chips were on the table--when he had no more chances, he broke through and became a first round draft pick.  A school with a losing record, mediocre QB, and bad OL.  Mentally, he was struggling through the losses of both parents.  Amazing story.  Is he as good as those three who played at top universities?  Not yet.
