I guess we will see if the ted lasso coaching model succeeds in the nfl.   Its great he is positive about our position as a franchise and team in general but its simply going to come down to getting bryce to play better and out scheming other coaches

Didn't we essentially try that model with Matt Rhule already?

I hope he doesn't tell our QB to be  goldfish.

No, Rhule was a CEO type and a complete dickhead. There was an article after we hired him and in it, it talked about how he would bitch at his coaches and threatened to fire them mid-game for poor performances.

His rah rah had no substance and he tried to lord over grown men like they were college kids. No idea if Canales is the guy, but his answers in his pressers sure have more substance and reason rather than soundbites and catchphrases.

eh, I'd argue he is now described as a CEO/dickhead type because his Ted Lasso bologna blewup in his face so hard at this level.   He was pimped as Dabo lite.

Rhule had all the cheesy slogans.  He had all the cheesy motivational.  Rhule out there threatening to pop his own hamstrings doing tackling drills with the team.  That poo don't work at this level.  Once that came to be....he was just the muttering idiot who didn't get the NFL.

I believe Lasso is loosely based on one of the Harbaughs.  Pete Carroll was a positive/energetic coach.  I'm sure there are others that lean more lasso like.

It's not a typical style but there is some success at the NFL level.

This thing is not going to improve soon. The past five years have been brutal for this franchise. The amount of draft pick giveaways and free agent errors and trading our best players away have led to a poor roster . Nobody knows if Morgan and Canales can turn this ship around but one thing I do know that if Tepper continues to meddle and Influences football decisions this team will continue to be the worst in the league.

    • Smack Central is in the realm of sports smack talk though. Which yeah can be fun and funny. This political and cultural stuff divides the people here that would otherwise be on the same side. In the narrow focus of sports fanning.    It isn’t my decision or call, and I can do either.  Do have opinions on it though.    And agreed this may be one of a dying breed of communities but it is still the best format for people interested in one particular pursuit. I haven’t seen better formats.  Can find something you said five years ago. To me even lol. This other stuff is so much stream of consciousness in the moment focused.    And this can do that, but a lot more.
    • Not exactly going out on a limb but he is absolutely correct. We've made some huge gambles on the defensive side of the ball with the size of some contracts let's just hope they pay off.
    • Pressure causes most of it. My hope is that even if are not sack terrors, constant pressure closing their margin time wise can be productive in that area. Guys hurry, try to do too much, all that stuff. More mistakes are made.
