Common denominator between Jets and Panthers

Both teams can't evaluate QB's and make bone head moves. They obviously can't evaluate talent at the position.

Put some good players around a QB with natural talent and a quality Oline along with good coaching, and you have something. Both gave up on Darnold and he is tearing it up now.

Looks like a completely different player. Both the Jets and Panthers haven't won sh%t for years. And probably won't win squat for years to come.

Donald is a stud and just needed that kind of team and coaching to get it out of him. Both teams couldn't  provide that.

Jets have sh%t owner ship and it works it's way all the way down the organization. Panthers have sh%t ownership also. Making bonehead moves between hiring coaches and signing players effects everything.

Pisses me off when I have to watch a QB we gave up on succeed for another team while we totally suck.

I really don't like being worse than the Jets lately. They are the next worst team in the Tepper error and it stinks.

Darnold is on a 1 year deal in a perfect situation for him. We didn't use him well, as the bridge he could be, but we sure are not built for him to succeed here now. Of all of the terrible choices and outcomes he isn't very high on my list when compared to the rest of the poo show.

Darnold had some success here as well, but if you think he would be tearing it up for us right now and we would be looking like a playoff team you are sadly mistaken.

He has cooled off considerably in their last couple of games, but they have a good overall team built around him.

Minnesota is fifth in points allowed per possession (1.49) and has the second-best points per game differential in the NFL (+10.2)

The bigger piece of the puzzle here is time. Darnold obviously needed time to figure things out.

The other stuff absolutely helps, but nothing helps more than experience.

Some guys just take longer to put it together.

Tepper gives up way too easily.

I still remember Darnold being annoited around here after the fourth game or so. By the final game he played here, many people around here wanted him gone.

I saw him as a stopgap while we should've accumulated additional talent. Instead, we dumped most of our assets - including Darnold - to draft a QB and figured that was somehow going to work. In retrospect, very much a Jets type of move.

Darnold's definitely in a better position to succeed with the Vikings but I expect him to either falter when things get harder and/or get hurt because I found him to be injury prone. Like when he went on IR for his ankle in pre-season or when he concussed himself against the Falcons.

Speaking of how did they miss this face mask call on Darnold to end this TNF game?

Yeah, that's just inexcusable. I mean, the game is basically already over but still. You can't miss THAT. The defender has his head in his hands knowing the flag is coming and then it just doesn't come. LOL

    • Players these days don’t need the pay day of the Pro Bowl. Even the lower paid players are earning enough money to not want to risk an injury playing in a pointless game. Last year didn’t the winners take home around $100k and the losers around $50k? Sounds nice to most of us, but to them, I can understand why some turn it down or half heartedly it if they play.
    • MY HOPES. First, the ickey situation is super unfortunate.  I think try to get a reasonable extension that allows to cut if his recovery is bad.  Option being if Lewis or Hunt get hurt he can kick inside, however I think its reasonable to think with his lack of progress, and prognosis of that injury he may never be a LT again at the NFL level.  Nymen should return hopefully as well as brady and let the best LT win. We HAVE to cut X.  Its not even an option at this point.  Guy is simply put not an NFL receiver.  He can return kicks and stuff, but as one of our top 3 options, its no longer an option.  Best I'd say is see if someone is willing to give peanuts for him, if not, just cut bait or keep him at best on the bottom of the roster. Kinda addressed in first, but Icky could be a long term option at guard...maybe depending on how his recovery from injury is.  Try to resign mays, if not I'd be ok with taking a Center in the draft and sigh...letting corbett maybe play the position. LB, Get Rozeboom back, maybe not as a starter but definitely worth bringing him back and also Im a guy of the mind when guys perform well, rewards like attempting to retain go a ways amongst players to grow a positive reputation.  I always say, you cant have all pros everywhere, but continue developing Wallace, draft a LB on day one or 2, and try to find high upside players who might be better utilized in our system vs where they came from. Chuba, definitely rely on him coming back, if not see if Etienne or Brooks take off.  RB is not a position to pay a lot for in the NFL these days, utilize the depth we already have and grow from that.  If you do anything in FA, its a similar Rico signing, someone falls into your lap and you can pay a prove it contract. LASTLY, and MOST IMPORTANTLY, the big thing I want to see happen is a run at a big time Pass rusher this offseason.  I think we'll treat this as win now mode although I think our "win now" still is maybe at best an NFC Divisional...MAAAYBE championship game run.  That said, the rumors of Trey Hendrickson do make sense, although personally I'm skeptical on how well he'll perform in a 3-4 as opposed to 4-3.  Also wouldnt be surprised if there were significant trade proposal for Maxx Crosby.  We will see though, a move like that would mark a huge sign that we are attempting to win right now.
