Positive signs from Bryce

He has to far to go---he is not confident--he throws too late, he runs from ghosts when he has a pocket.  I think he throws to the sidelines  because he can see the WRs/TEs etc.  He did well late when they stopped blitzing--he is not good.  What killed me was the quote the sideline reporter provided when she was talking about how he wants to stay here---he said he likes his teammates and he is having fun...

FUN?

There isn’t anything positive to say. He’s terrible and people are pissed that we wasted years of assets for him to be on this team. fug him and his lazy ass entitled attitude. Netflix and shopping were more important to him than football this offseason. Canales hates him and I’m fairly certain that his teammates do too.

Huh

Agreed. Giving the circumstances Bryce was NOT expected to throw any scores. He was not expected to play as he did. However he does look to extend drives when he scrambles before trying to take off. If he had a run game today he could of done more. However Denver showed why they are a top 3 defense.

Brock Purdy was the last pick in the last round of the 2022 draft (7th round, #262 overall). Mr Irrelevent.

Bryce was the first pick in the first round in 2023 (#1 overall).

Purdy isn’t even regarded as a stud or even super talented…a game manager…but Bryce isn’t even in Brock’s universe. Regardless of talent on the rest of the team.

Look guys, I wouldn’t be mad at BY if he worked like a dawg over the off-season, but bro’s out here ADMITTING that he did nada. Hell my high school summer swim workouts were more than bro did. Just wish he’d try and work like me and other athletes, especially cause he gets paid 20 something MILLION

Coker was cut, think about that for a moment

Yeah, Dan & Dave are showing their conformist thinking. It's to be expected, but it's still disappointing.

Sure, I'm a fan, but I've been watching coaches here reward players with opportunities in camp and in season based upon draft position and seniority as opposed to merit. All Coker really does is be legitimately productive with less snaps. No way he should've ever been cut.

There isn’t one player on this team except Brown or maybe Horn that would start for SanFran.  Certainly no one on offense.  The talent gap is huge as is the offensive coaching staff there.  Not even comparable.

Giving up on him this early will be a mistake.  And BTW there is no guarantee what so ever the next guy does any better here.  Dalton looked like trash except 1 game.  It’s a total team problem not just a QB problem

I'm sure SF would take some OL, as their line is currently 24th or so in PFF. Chuba could do what Mason is doing, if not more. The receivers suck worse than SF but are better than last year, the offense sucks but is better than last year, but Bryce is exactly the same or worse. Dude is not starting QB material, full stop.

My take

He can't stretch the field. No defense has respect for that. They play the run and the short passing game without much fear of him going deep. If he does go deep his passes are 50/50 balls without much accuracy.

He escaped the pocket a couple of times but mostly when he gets hit, he's going down.

I was hoping he would be better but mainly he's a college QB that can't handle the NFL.

Yeah Broncos focused on taking away the run and pressed the receivers.  They definitely didn’t respect the passing attack

    • I must apologize, my sarcasm at times doesnt translate well in text form lol. At this point I would welcome us signing him, Trey Lance, trading for Jameis Winston, asking about Deshaun Watson and playing phone tag with Tom Brady before I ever fully entertain a season of Bryce Young being the defacto Starting Quarterback of the Panthers.

    • We had a QB who could do that and its the last time we went to the Super Bowl and the only time we had an MVP. Once he lost his ability to do that he was out of the league. To filter out insignificant stats I will only look at QBs who have played in 10 or more games this year. There are 28 qualifying QBs. Bryce is 25th in Air Yards per Attempt at 6.4. Only Joe Flacco, Cam Ward, and Dillon Gabriel are worse (6.0, 5.8, 5.1). Trevor Lawrence, Patrick Mahomes, and CJ Stroud are the median QBs at 7.1. Drake Maye and Sam Darnold lead the league at 8.7. Bryce is 18th in the league for passes that travel 30+ yards at 12. The median is Caleb Williams at 15. The league leader is Matthew Stafford with 26. With passes that travel 40+ yards, Bryce is tied with three others at 21st in the league with 3. Only Jacoby Brissett, Cam Ward, Joe Flacco, and Dillon Gabriel are worse. The median is a three-way tie with Drake Maye, Trevor Lawrence, and Baker Mayfield with 6. The league leader is Sam Darnold with 12. Having the ability to complete passes down the field (not YAC) stretches the defense and makes them account for more ground. It keeps players out of the box and keeps formations in nickel or dime, less line backers for your RBs to worry about. Bryce is why we have 2 losses against the Saints. If he had the outright ability to sling the football down field we beat the easily, but he doesn't. So they crowded the box and our 2 starting caliber RBs with our top ~10 Oline couldn't carry the offense to a win on their own. The limitations of the offense fall squarely on Bryce.
