Canales still not sold on Bryce?

We all have the list of FA QB's for 2025; it's not very good. We are also likely not in a position to grab a QB high in the upcoming draft and/or Canales may not think any of them are really his guy. In that case, one really needs to get the most value of what's already here. We have BY under contract for two more years. Dalton is going to be an additional cost to keep. There has to be enough about Dalton to justify keeping him around in some capacity.

Bump this when Im right- Drew Lock will be a panther.

I would not be surprised if they di not take a qb in the 2nd round in the upcoming draft if it falls like many think it will. It just depends on how desperate the teams picking at the top get. This offseason will answer a lot of questions to what the team will be forced to do in the draft.

If I had to bet money, Canales getting a mid-round prospect he likes is the most likely option. Ditch Dalton and have BY start the season until the new guy is ready. If we are really lucky, then we find a Russell Wilson and BY still has value as backup.

Ah, I see now. Daniel Jones is getting benched so Drew Lock's going to get a chance. That's actually not the best scenario since he'll either stink and we won't want him, or play well enough for the Giants to keep him or he'll demand too large of a contract for a new team which he'll get because the FA market stinks.

The Panthers have always waited until they needed a qb to draft one. They should have drafted Cams replacement 2 years before Cams 2nd contract was up to sit behind Cam to learn and grow. Now they are struggling to find someone to sit a rookie behind that can win some games. They will not find anything but a short term backups and they already have two that cannot win games. You can't make this up.

Canales is taking pressure off Bryce and just leting him take it week by week. The mistake last year was anointing him too early and all those draft picks weighing on the kid mentally.  I think it’s clear Bryce will continue to start as long as he continues to get better week to week.

    • Seeing as how the other thread somehow became a makeshift catch-all for this season, I figured we would do a 2.0 that’s more reflective of where we are now.  Kon is looking like he should be the favorite for ROY, and how gratifying that would be considering the NBA did everything in their power two out of the last three years to rob us of perceived generational talents and route Wemby and Flagg to their preferred destinations rather than Charlotte.  The Wemby one is gonna sting, but if we just got the best player in this most recent draft in Kon, it stings a little less.
    • I don't know; I think it's close for the first half and if it gets ugly it'll be in the second half.
    • The thing is, I feel like last Sunday validated what I have been saying about Bryce.  And this is why I'm somewhat optimistic. He isn't a good QB, let me make that clear before the brigade storms into this thread, but the biggest difference between Bryce before last week and Bryce in the second half of last season was his lack of confidence and willingness to make plays downfield.  Last week was the first time this season he's had that "F It" mentality, the same he had when he came back last year when he just looked and played care-free (in a good way; he had a positive energy).  We need him to keep that energy the rest of the season because if he does, we can win games. It ain't always about being good.  Hell Jameis Winston isn't good (better than Bryce, but still), but he plays with such a confidence that his teams always have a chance.   If Bryce is down to be as aggressive as he was last week, I think the opportunities will be there against a weak and injured 49ers defense.
