I just think it's remarkable how Dave Canales turned Bryce around. I don't know if it was intentional, but clearly benching him and letting him cool off was an excellent move. I think Dave being coy with who will be starting has also been intentional. My personal theory is this is two fold: 1- it takes the pressure of Bryce to feel like he has to be the savior  and 2- it doesn't just hand bryce the keys without letting him know that just because you're the first overall pick doesn't mean you are guaranteed to be a starter

When Canales was hired we all hoped he would get the most out of Bryce, he has done that in a very circuitous manner

I am glad for Young, the franchise and the long suffering fan base

no one wins if Young collapses

he really needs to continue to ball out

very winnable game at home Sunday…with what looks to be a near national audience

panthers need to win this game. Draft position be damned

I just wonder how much of Canales’s playbook is altered for Young…and what happens when NFL defenses shut down Young’s preferences and read his tendencies on film…can we adjust

I never lost hope that he could turn it around. But he definitely needed to be benched after week 2. Just to be able to sit back and watch and work on your mechanics in practice/behind the scenes.

Anyone who’s played sports knows how tough it is to try and implement changes during competitive play. You get in your head and think more than play. I believe that’s where he was at. Trying to focus on this footwork, or reading that coverage, or not rolling out this way, where there was no room to actually react and play QB. I play tennis and at the end of a bad day of practice, sometimes it’s best to just call it a day and try again tomorrow instead of putting your head down and pushing through.

My honest take is diontae johnson was not the only player who threaten Dave if he kept BY at QB.

Again this current BY is NOT the BY of last year and first two weeks, just a totally different player.

I feel the part where he needs credit is he didn't commit to BY even when BY was ballin/well. He wanted BY to take over and claim the QB without him answering the question.

Plus the game planning and play calling has been on point this last few weeks. Dave is a rookie at this too. Plus much like BY, I had nearly 0.0 faith in either, but that number is around 20 and I longer feel tortured watching. That's huge form where each was.

    • No, it will be a raw 6'7" 17-year-old European who just played basketball for the first time in March and who the idiot GM "had first on our board." He'll play the whole G-League season, get in 42 games for the Hornets and average 1.1 ppg on 35% shooting. Been there, seen that.
    • We missed on Burns at his peak value. That’s the problem with trading for picks 2-3 years away (which people were convinced the Rams would suck by now and these would be higher picks btw). Each year away the pick is the further in value it drops. Fitt was clearly hired based on turning us around quickly. It’s one of the many reasons tanking isn’t really a thing as our player JJ is telling you in this original article. It would take the whole organization from the owners down admitting they aren’t winning soon with Burns and picks 2-3 years away having more value because that’s when we are still rebuilding. It would only make sense if Fitt had a longer leash and would more than likely be the ones making these picks anyway which you wouldn’t want. The question is would you rather have those Rams picks with the strong possibility of Fitt still being here or would you rather Fitt try to “win now” like he did and expedite his firing? Altering the timeline would affect more than just the Rams picks.
    • I dont buy the idea that it would create more competitive games Given this: Seed Current Format Record Proposed Open Seeding Record 1 Lions 15–2 Lions 15–2 2 Eagles 14–3 Eagles 14–3 3 Buccaneers 10–7 Vikings 14–3 4 Rams 10–7 Commanders 12–5 5 Vikings 14–3 Rams 10–7 6 Commanders 12–5 Buccaneers 10–7 7 Packers 11–6 Packers 11–6 That would mean Wild Card round would have been Eagles (14/3) v  Pack(11/6) Vikings(14/3) v Bucs(10/7) Commanders(12/5) v Rams(10/7) Instead of Eagles (14/3) v  Pack(11/6) Bucs(10/7) v Commanders(12/5) Rams(10/7) v Vikings(14/3) Then with the reseed it would mean that highest remaining seed would always draw the lowest remaining team.
