Brooks wasn’t the worst offensive draft mistake the panthers made this year

McConkey has been pretty good but he also has Justin Herbert as a QB

It's getting pretty obvious that Carolina has a "type" of WR they like to go for in the draft. Big, hulking, or physical project type WRs that aren't necessarily the best route runners or have the best hands, or separate the best. 

Its a trend that's continued through several different GMs, coaching staffs, and even owners. It's bizarre and frustrating to me. 

Id honestly like to go a year without burning a 1 or 2 on a WR this year. Because I don't trust their WR talent evaluation. Focus on defense and pick up some offensive players later if you want. 

At least Legette showed potential and Coker is good. Take a year off from drafting WRs high...

Brooks was a pick that made no sense but whatever. Best we can do is hope we see him do something in 2026. 

I think Trevin Wallace was good before he got hurt.

JT Sanders was good before he kinda disappeared after he fell on his head. But he showed some really good poo. 

Chau Smith Wade got a INT as a 5th rounder. IDK how hes performed other than that, but getting anything out of picks this late is just a bonus.

Jason Crumedy is the only one from this draft I have no idea if he ever got play time or if he did, how well he did.

Michael Barret ended up being traded for Mike Jackson who's been a servicable CB2 most of the year. So id consider that a huge win. I think the Seahawks cut Barret not long after they traded for him

 

So overall, its not a bad draft. They basically got something out of all of the picks, minus Brooks getting injured again. If brooks showed anything and stayed healthy this would be a borderline great draft compared to anything Hurney or Fitterer did in the last several years.

Legette is still an unknown. But the Brooks pick is and was at the time a huge risk. At least our first round pick has seen the field over the majority of the season.

Regardless we need to clean house of the draft scouts. We have been drafting the same mold of WR going back to TMJ and enough is enough.

Yea we have been through that prototype for decades now and it always fails.

The Steelers are so good at WR drafting that I almost think they come off of an assembly line with major brain defects as a side effect.

Yeah but when he gets the ball he looks like he’s playing a different game. XL gets the ball and he has to juggle the ball multiple times while he tries move it from his gut to his hands.

Front office positions outside of a handful of very well ran teams around the league change with enough consistent  frequency that we should be able to agree they are not above reproach nor are they world's more adept at evaluating talent than some average sports fans.

i kinda love it. 

also full disclosure i was accidentally tripping balls during the second round. like it came on so fast and so hard i barely got to the couch in time or i would have had a floor night. 

when they drafted him, I was peaking and one of my favorite songs was hitting its crescendo and i had almost a religious experience so he's basically my favorite player of all time now.

It's also too bad that the final judgement on the success of a draft class is not made after one season. 

When the majority of the Huddle wants player A over player B in every draft and end up correct you can only come to one conclusion. Huddle > Every Panther GM/coach/scout. It's just a fact. It's not revisionist.

      Umm yeah. When did he get it done at the right time? I seem to remember a 4-6 finish and needing Atlanta to win our way into the playoffs but whatever.

We have traded a fortune to draft a guy #1 overall that people have lowered standards for to the point that not playing like Jimmy Clausen and looking like a poor man's Kyle Allen occasionally is worthy of a contract extension making him one of the highest paid QB's in the league.
