I think we are seeing one of the Panthers' greatest coaching seasons in our 30 year history.

Bryce was horrible--how he is approaching average.

The defense was not really addressed in the offseason and we lost Burns, Gross Matos, Shaq Thompson, Derrick Brown, and Action Jackson from last year.

On offense, Canales benched Bryce after 2 games.  most of us thought he was done.  Teams offered conditional seventh rounders and the brain trust on the Huddle was shouting, "Do IT!!!"  Canales stayed with Bryce.

On offense, we lost our starting center early, our #1 WR, our #2 WR (AT), our #3 WR (Mingo), and a former second rounder (TMJ).  For much of the year, we have had XL, Coker, and Moore at WR.

This team was getting blown out early on--with wins against powerhouses Vegas, the NY Giants--then November happened.  A win vs the Saints, and heart-breaking losses vs. Tampa, Kansas City, and Philly--all playoff teams (probably).

This team has gone from a joke to being competitive.  A few players away from being relevant.

I cannot think of a better coaching job--except maybe 2003.  And this team is likely to win 4-5 games.

Think about it.  A rookie head coach with a positive attitude has done this in about 15 games.  I am sold.

Are you using the BY scale for HC Dave??

I don't know if I see or feel the same, 30 years?? the best??

Like you said fox came here in with a 1-15 team and in two years they were in the SB. If Dave can match that, Ill agree with you..

My take, he's similar to BY, better than I thought- growing, learning, etc. I honestly had the expectations at 1 or 2 wins. 4 wins and BY is passing around 200 with 1TD and no INTs in his good games. Both are young and I still don't believe, but next season will show if the team building a new or just another GM, HC, QB reset....

There's a lot of culture building going on:

From NBC Sports:  Half of Carolina’s wins this year have happened in overtime. Quarterback Bryce Young now has five career wins; four have come via game-winning drives in the fourth quarter or overtime.

In it and fights to the end and learning how to finish.

Culture right there. That's what we want to see at this point and heading into next year.

    • yeah, I can get a little of that.  But that's not what he is posting in his argument just now though.   He said people wouldn't even concede to the literal ability to do it when pressed on the literal ability.  I have never seen that.  He maintains it exists somewhere.  I mean, using anomaly games to make arguments about players just isn't the way.   There wasn't a defender within 10 yards of our guys on 2 of those 3 throws Sunday.  No one within 5 on the 3rd.   That's not Bryce Young answering questions about his play downfield..  That's Bryce Young taking advantage of coverage busts by a bad D.  Which hey, that's part of the game too.  Recognition and seeing the field.   It can't totally be dismissed.   That's still good play.  You want your QBs to make those plays.  But it's not getting into the long standing critique of BY IMO.
    • Deserved, I wouldn’t use that word. Asked for? For sure. Am I upset over it? No.  People forget that AT was throwing his helmet in frustration last season over his QB’s ineptitude. The same QB was pretty inept to start this year, no guarantee AT would have helped him in those games any more than he did last year.  Just sayin.  And Dan doing him a solid probably did not go unnoticed by players around the league. I think it increases his rep with potential FAs. It sure can’t hurt it.
    • You think that was the fault of the guy that was lighting it up or maybe the bums around him? Funnily enough, those bums are still being bums in his absence. Who would have thought!
