After opening drive TD, panthers went 3 and out 3 straight times

Bucs score 20 points in this span and basically put the game away, I mean let’s be honest

I’m pointing the finger at Canales here. You know what you’re working with on offense and defense. Offense has got to shorten the game to keep the defense off the field as much as they can.

even if we assume the panthers don’t care about wins and only want “game experience” or whatever, you’re not doing young players any favors putting them down three scores like that.

Canales is a very cute play caller. He can pregame a very nifty little opening drive. Doesn’t matter if you’re not crafting the game plan to help the injured defense, or putting young players in a position that they can at least compete.

supposed some offensive whiz kid? Ehhhhhh

If there's one valid criticism of Canales, it's him deciding to get overly pass happy which is exactly what he did after that opening drive. I get it. We don't have Chuba or Moton but the Bucs were playing as though we would pass every down and we played right into their hands, not only putting more pressure on a compromised O-line but also forcing our defense to play a lot more minutes that they simply could not afford to do on any day but especially today without Horn.

I would hope he learns not to do this next season but every coach in the NFL has a bad tendency and this may be the one we're stuck with going forward.

The Panthers roam, but find no prey,

Lost in the woods, they stray and sway,

Once feared, now just a shadow's trace,

Fumbling through the endless race.

The offense sputters, like a dying flame,

No spark, no fire, everyone to blame-

The quarterback, with hopes once high,

Now throws the ball just to watch it fly.

The defense stiffens, yet they bend,

Unable to break the losing trend.

The roar of the crowd turns into sighs,

As each new loss falls from the skies.

Another season of struggle, just 3 wins to claim,

And yet, the team plays on the same-

With hearts of hope, but minds unclear,

The Panthers chase the end of the year.

Oh, Carolina, where did you go?

The strength you had, the fire, the flow-

Now all we see if a team that fights,

But can't seem to find the winning heights.

Still, the fans hold on, though worn and torn,

For next year's hope will soon be born.

In this cruel dance, we wait, we cry,

For the Panthers to roar again, up to the sky.

I think we were just put into a tough position. We had to answer every drive with a TD to make this a competitive game.

Today really highlighted how good Chubba is. He’s not elite athletically but his vision is top of the league. They didn’t run the ball because they don’t trust Blackshear.

The defense is completely depleted of talent. No coaching around that.

I mean, I think people considered him more of a QB whisperer than offensive whiz kid or young offensive mind. Either way, he was like a dozen spots down the list.

There's much to unpack here.

I think Canales has faults and we'll have plenty of time in the offseason to dissect that. But this roster on the defensive side of the ball is total ass and that's ultimately on the GM. We put all our eggs in the offense basket to the tune of 150 million free agency dollars and 1st and 2nd round picks. And other than the crappy Raiders and Cardinals overall through the season we have maxed out at comical scoring levels. I mean we went to overtime against the truly terrible Giants with 17 points and Daniel Jones was trying to give the game away. Today was just more of the same.

    • Kon is a damn stud but it’s not any individual player’s team. All of the “big 3” are incredibly and equally important IMO. And LaMelo makes Kon way better (look at his shooting splits with LaMelo on the floor vs without. Also Moose and even Miles are important cogs. Honestly think we’re 1 piece away from being legit top contenders if the young guys continue to develop the next year or two. I trust this FO to be patient to find that piece within the next 2-3 years and not force anything. Plenty of time and even without adding anyone we have the pieces in place overall already to compete with any team.
    • We lost 2 very close and winnable games against top teams in the league while missing 3 critical players despite 2 of our top 3 players shooting unusually terribly. Still split the 4 games that Moose and Miles were suspended, winning the most important one vs the Hawks. This ain’t yo mama’s Hornets man. Hopefully Coby can go soon but even if not Moose and Miles are huge additions for our starting lineup and bench rotations. Schedule is pretty tough after these next 4 but I think we’ll take care of business the next 4 to get to .500 then finish slightly above .500 after that to get a 7 or 8 seed. Keep it rolling boys. Also Kon is having an insanely historic rookie season as a shooter. Like truly can’t believe my eyes watching this kid level of historic. Man what a fuging home run of a draft pick and exactly what this team needed to take that next step forward. He’s gonna shatter the rookie 3 point and franchise 3 point records. Has a real chance to be the 2nd best 3 point shooter ever or dare I say even get to Curry’s level (as a pure shooter, Curry obviously has way more to his game that has made him a GOAT).
    • I hear you but yeah like you say, above average. His numbers were good. You’d think it would be a no brainer. Anyhow… I guess the new staff is also fine with him walking?    I hope if we sign him there isn’t some secret issue of his that led to him not being valued.
