We could have had Jordan Love and Rashawn Slater in those same drafts without losing more games.  Which would give us a top 10 qb and Lt.  Perhaps we just need to scout and analyze better.

I'm sorry, this gets me every time

If you're going to argue that we don't scout and analyze talent well, then you should be the type of person screaming for a higher draft pick as the higher you pick, the less chance you have to screw it up with poor scouting, as you have more elite players to choose from.

With every pick later that you draft, your scouting needs to be even better.

This. It's never where we draft, it's our evaluation that stinks.

If I crunched my numbers correctly a Vikings win will bump the Jets SOS to.505. Interestingly, that would be a tie with the Saints.  Not sure how that works, what the next tie break would be.

Edit: Divisional and conference schedules.

In fairness to us, most teams and evaluators are bad at evaluation because its an incredibly difficult thing to do.  The number of players drafted to high or to low every year is large.  Just look at the Bears and Cardinals.

Honestly, I moved to NC around the year 2000, so I don’t remember any panthers history before that. Julius peppers was my first memory of a Panthers draft pick, but I do remember that he had a hell if a name!

I "kept up" with the Panthers from 95-98 but I was young and had other poo to do. 1999 was the first season I stayed glued to the TV.

I will say we have had some interesting names over the years. I'm waiting for us to sign Will Clapp just to add to the pool.

Nothing more important than seeing what Bryce has. Now we have some evidence that he can truly be a good starter in the league. I'll take that loss in draft order all day to know i have a qb. You don't have poo in the nfl if you don't have a qb. Playing a season without one is pointless.

Fair. I was just hoping the Falcons win the coin toss and score on us. Best of both worlds.

We are in the bottom 5% in the Tepper era. That isn't an accident.

    • You are right. At the same time I don’t think people are watching games going come on Bryce put it on the ground or sail it OB or whatever. They just have trouble seeing him turning his 3 or four or five top games of 2025 into the weekly standard outing. Which you expect for the kind of money he will ask for (speaking for myself anyway).
    • In terms of comparing Pickett and Young's arm talent it's basically a push at best. Pickett is sitting at 6.2 yards per pass attempt for his career while Bryce sits at 6.0 Last season Bryce was 6.3 in yards per pass attempt. Only Justin Fields Spencer Rattler (both 6.2) Kyler Murray (6.0) 41 year old Joe Flacco (6.0) 44 year old Phillip Rivers (5.9) rookie Cam Ward (5.9) and Tyrod Taylor (5.8) had less pass yards per attempt than Bryce Young in his third season as a starter. Folks going around acting as if it is beyond the pale to say Pickett might have a better arm than Young are living in an alternate reality. You can choose to not believe your own eyes after 46 games but everyone else will acknowledge reality and move forward accordingly.
    • Wayne Gretzky yesterday said he is playing as good a series as he has ever seen from a defender. I thought that was pretty high praise.
