73 rec 900 yards 10 TDS. This is playing with a Top 5 elite QB and the 1a/1b WR in the league across from him.

I think someone is going to way overpay this dude and he is going to be a disappointment.

Yeah, but I don't see it as a possible overpay in regards to talent---Higgins has shined when Chase wasn't even on the field (he has)---it may be an overpay if Higgins continues to be hurt for games at a time.

Yeah I get it

Theres just so much potential there all around he’s easy to fall in love with as a prospect but like you said you can’t be a ghost against the run

This very topic was debated in another thread about going to a 4-3 vs a 3-4 alignment. These athletes in college are all much lighter and faster to rush the QB but they don't have the weight to defend the run. 4-3 DE are supposed to be in the mold of Julius Peppers, athletic but in the 270-280 pounds to defend the run and rush the passer. Avg O-linemen is 300+ lbs.  It's harder to find 4-3 DE now in college.

Walker is going to test off the chart at the combine

I honestly think we’ll be lucky if he’s there at 8

So many of those "test off the chart at the combine" type of guys end up just physical freaks who never pan out though.

I'm not saying that's the case for him, but in general, I hate going after guys who fly up draft boards because of the combine, tape speaks for itself.

Given the available options in FA this year, Higgins is likely going to end up getting a Top 5 WR money type of contract in the end.

You don't think that will be an overpay?

He's good, but he's not even Top 10 WR good, let alone Top 5

Not trying to prove any point just thought about what higgins stats were when chase is out, found this

Tee Higgins has had 31 catches for 511 yards and has scored 3 touchdowns in 5 games without Ja'Marr Chase in his career.

Hell he had over 900 yards his rookie year. That’s before they had Chase and Burrow only played like half the year..

Higgins is very good. He hasn't even nearly hit his ceiling, and he very well could be a top 10 receiver in the league. Ochocinco thinks he's a top 10 receiver already. Shannon Sharpe says top 15.  As for getting paid, all the top receivers get their turn. That's just the nature of the game.

Sure, everyone gets their turn, and when the teams pay guys like Higgins, Top 5 money, they generally end up being overpays because while they're really good, they just don't provide the ROI on that contract.

It's nothing against Higgins, I like the player, but with his injury history, Chase always taking the main attention, having Burrow as his QB, and the lack of top WR FA's, it has all the markings of being a bad signing compared to whatever he's going to get.

The Patriots with all their cap room could give him a Top 3 WR contract and he plays really well for them, and it still be an overpay in the end.

    • Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
