Warren is an intriguing prospect. I'm just of the opinion if we go offense at 8 it only ups the ante that much more to see immediate big time results from Bryce and Canales. Because that's a premium pick that could be going to the defense.

I want an impact player.  Defensive tackle, edge, WR, TE, whatever.  We could literally use almost anything.  I'm honestly just baffled by opinion that we're basically good at WR and TE because we have the best prospects in the NFL.

The players we have could develop into above average players, or even stars.  But I'm not passing on a top tier prospect because of anybody on this roster.

I think this is a much easier convo in February. Ultimately we both know that come next fall none of us are going to be wanting to hear any of this if our defense is still giving up a ton of points and people are calling for Evero's head. As it is people myself included are already expecting Canales to take a more hands on approach to the whole team not just the offense in 2025.

But I am on board with you about BPA at pick 8. I can't speak for others but I don't think we are "set" at any position. We shouldn't feel like we have to fix everything in one offseason. But we also have to acknowledge that the defense is not even mediocre at this point and we just invested well over 100 million free agency dollars in the offense.

Can't see it. I like the player a lot but TEs just don't go in the top 10 unless they're viewed as generational type prospects. Warren is a really good TE prospect but he seems more like the type of prospect who generally goes in the teens mid to late teens or early twenties.

I remember being FURIOUS that we passed on Olsen to take Beason. And, well, that all worked out for the best. So I hope we do likewise this time around again.

On one level, the defense can't be ignored and this would be a luxury pick in ways. On another level though, this is still a team that needs talent upgrades...everywhere.

We can't be "mad" at a true BPA, position be damned, if it's the right call on a better player.  I have faith in Sanders, hope Tremble is back, etc. But if we think Warren is Brock Bowers-esque and are iffy on any of the Edge guys? Give me the guy you think has a higher probability to be an All-Pro.

As a GM of a team that was abysmal on defense I wouldn't draft him at 8. But, I do understand the logic if he's the best player on the board. If Warren turns out to only be "really good" he'd be better than anyone we've fielded at TE this decade and would undoubtedly help Bryce in the passing game.

I could only see doing that if we had already acquired a starter (or 2) in FA prior to the draft & used every mid round (2-5) pick on the best available defensive players on the board.

      My read is they intended to try and get points but that first run and usage of the clock was done to hedge against things going poorly. Basically they shouldn't need all that time to score since they had multiple timeouts. Dirting that second play put us in a no-win situation. Sure you can run on 3rd down but ARI had timeouts so they still likely get the same result.

      I never said he had a good game in the Denver game.  As you said we had a good first drive ending in Bryce throwing a slant to XL for a TD.  It was garbage time but the back shoulder throw to Coker for the late TD was a great throw.   Throws like these in bad games are why I say he "can" do it and has the physical tools.  The question is can he do it consistently, continue to improve, grow and become our QB of the future.  Up to this point that was a hard no but with a new head coach and Bryce in his 2nd year it was 100% the right call to play out the year and see if he got better.  He did.   Two games into this year is still more of the up and down quality of play and coaching but there is still plenty of potential and we have 16 more games to decide if it's worth it to continue down this path. I don't know what will happen but I know cutting him or benching him now makes zero sense on any level. I said of those last 10 games we were only blown out in 2 of them.  I'll concede the Denver game was a blow out.  So 3 blowout loses and 7 competitive games, 4 of which we won, all decided by less than a TD.  Sounds like a team growing, improving and getting better.  All I want to do is see where that leads and if those examples of starting NFL level quarterbacking can continue to improve and become more consistent.   Anyone with pride would retire?  Laughable.  Do all of you quit in your daily lives every time things get tough or don't go your way?
