Scouting Report Recommendations

I don’t watch a lot of college football so I read a lot of scouting reports to form an opinion on potential draft. My question is this

what is your favorite site to go to for nfl draft prospect scouting reports? What is the most thorough? What do you think is the most accurate?

I like the interface and detail of nfldraftbuzz.com but not watching college football, I have no idea how accurate it is. What is your go to?

Stats

  • Sports-Reference
  • Official NCAA site

Prospect Rankings/Scouting Reports

  • Dane Brugler (The Athletic)
  • Official NFL site
  • PFF
  • TheDraftNetwork
  • CBS (just rankings)

Mock Drafts

  • SO MANY
  • NO SERIOUSLY
  • THEY'RE FRIGGIN EVERYWHERE
  • HOLY poo

I also enjoy Brett Kollman and EJ Snyder's content. NFLStockExchange and TheFranchiseGuy have been good watches as well. The NFL Draft subreddit is... a thing. Can sometimes find some interesting perspectives on players that you might not have been open to previously.

Appreciate it. Thank you!

Not directly answering your question, but what I’ve enjoyed (and helps the offseason go by) is taking in the info from all of them then going and watch the film. Kinda fun if you come away with the same impressions. I also like to do it the other way, find a random guy with a round 4 grade or something, watch the tape, then go compare my feedback to the “pros”

That’s awesome.

I think it’s ok. Don’t love the interface but I like the content. I just don’t know how accurate it is compared to others. I feel like it is a little idiosyncratic and bucs the trends of other websites which I appreciate. I feel like a lot of these sites can herd towards a consensus so I appreciate a site that has rankings that are a little wonky. For example having Kenneth grant over mason graham in their set rankings. Not sure if it’s accurate but appreciate that it’s different.

Before I read others' responses, The site is so full of ads I quit going.  He is a former scout, I believe, but he is getting obsolete.  Sometimes, I think he ranks players for shock value, and his write ups are summaries of stats for the most part.  It is a different perspective, and sometimes, he hits the nail on the head when everyone else misses.

I like it. Whether or not you agree, doesn’t matter as much as it has good info. I like the Senior Bowl and visit info. Not easy to find good blurbs about which players met with which teams and SB practice info all in one spot. I haven’t looked much at the visits recently, probably because it’s disappointing to see us having Maxx Crosby in for a private visit but take Will Grier instead or see players who barely visit anyone else yet we take them in day 2 or day 3 and shockingly they don’t work out.

It’s just nice to have a list of all prospects from round 1 to 7/UDFA. Again, I don’t care much about the exact rankings just nice to look at the full list of prospects and blurbs on each one (some over multiple years) broken down by each position. Their web site kind of sucks but it’s free info so can’t complain.

    • Good game so far.  Solid trench battles, two young well built defenses, and my 2 fave coaches.  Stafford is really damn good.  SEA OL is overperforming.
    • Okay then. To me that means Russell Wilson was Coryell. Because I see the proposition completely in the Russell Wilson punt/pass put it up for grabs mold. Count on the receiver to catch it or knock it down.    And the reason I thought that was the intent with Legette is the abysmal downfield game from 2023. As in, there was barely any.   I look at it as if… the result of a deep attempt isn’t as important as the opponent understanding they have to defend it. So I was all for some 50/50s. Coryell, Walsh whoever.  I do favor the Coryell approach personally but also very much value versatility, it doesn’t have to be strict. Just make the defense defend the whole field, however you do it. It has to include downfield throws.
    • Sold, or in the process of being sold. Could be either way. Consider this for a second... Last season, our defensive coordinator steered what many have called the worst defense in NFL history.  Canales would absolutely have been justified in firing him, and no one would have blamed him if he had.  But what did he do? He gave Evero another chance to come back and prove he could be better. Does that tell us something about Canales? I think it does. Now apply that to Bryce 😕
