Gazette think's Jarrett may be released

Recommended Posts

The panthers are already operating on the assumption that he'll gone by opening day. And that's a fact, true inside information. You can take it to the bank.

Only Jarrett can change that future for him now.

Now I know 6 wide outs is a little much, but probably receives this spot based on his ability to play special teams unlike or better than other players on the bubble such as cornerback; C.J. Wilson, CB; Brian Witherspoon, DE; Hilee Taylor, DT; Nick Hayden, DT; Ed Johnson, DE; Corvey Irvin; DT; Derek Landri, RB; Mike Goodson, S; Aaron Francisco; and S; Marcus Hudson.

Your semi-colons are used improperly there, but I think I agree with your choices. :P

I might substitute Moore for Jarrett.

per reports Jarrett practices well. When thrown to in games he has done well.

If I was a betting man, I would say Fox not playing him and Jake have a lot to do w/ his percieved poor progress. I think he runs his routes better than Moose and has better hands. I think if Moose was benched last year when he also had lost it.....Jarrett would have been an improvement if given the chance.

In my opinion, Jarrett has only one upside over Lafell and Edwards… and that’s experience. His route running has probably improved, along with his physical skills. But he’s the worst wide receiver on our roster when it comes to getting off the line. He showed some improvement near the end of the season, but only really showed it against the Saints’ backups.

I’ve heard some rumblings about Charly Martin and his relationship and timing with Matt Moore has been sky rocketing. So I wouldn’t completely count this guy out.

If Jarrett stays on the team, I’ll go with: Steve Smith, Dwayne Jarrett, Brandon Lafell, Armantti Edwards, David Gettis and Wallace Wright. If Jarrett goes: Steve Smith, Brandon Lafell, Armantti Edwards, David Gettis, Charly Martin and Wallace Wright. I still think Charly Martin might get David Gettis’ spot though, splitting time in the slot with Edwards.. while bumping David Gettis down to Special Teams work. We’re gonna carry 6 receivers this season though because we’ve lacked good depth like this for quite some time now.

Jarrett has much better hands than LaFell. Edwards is unknown in that department.

There's a lot of possibility there.

I agree. Also, any third receiver isn't going to see much action in this offense.

That being said, he does seem to have problems getting off the line and with his route running. It's a risk: do we keep him one more year at the expense of letting someone else go, or do we let him go without having ever (some would say) giving him a shot at the No. 2 position?

Jarrett has no burst in and out of his cuts and runs poor routes at that. He may have good hands but really that is a none factor when the defender is in better postion to catch the ball. Lets just hope he is working on this and will be better. If not cut his ass.

It is certainly a no-brainer that Jarrett’s career here in Carolina has been anything but a cakewalk.

As we all know he's been slow to develop and his contributions here can be summed up in a two-minute highlight reel -- and that’s with two 30-second commercials thrown in.

I have always had high hopes for Jarrett ever since we drafted him in the 2nd rd in 2007...But in three seasons, he has started only three games and caught 33 passes for 338 yards and one touchdown...Not exactly hall of fame stats.

If there’s some good news for Jarrett it’s that he has a low base salary in 2010, meaning the Panthers aren’t going to save much money, if any, by cutting him.
