Panthers reportedly 'intrigued' by Arizona WR Tetairoa McMillan, per Joe Person

McMillan has great size (6-4, 219) and an uncanny ability to high-point the ball. Without blazing speed, there are concerns about his ability to separate. Some in Carolina’s organization are intrigued.

Doesn't bode well for their confidence in Leggette IMO. Very similar profile.

Seems this is accurate, but doesn't include contracts for david moore and nick scott.

Scott and Moore made about $1.3M and 1.1M respectively on last year's 1-year deals.  I doubt they are looking to make less.  So assuming their deals are roughly the same we are going to be nearly $1.5M over the cap when accounting for the rookie pool.  With us looking to sign another starting caliber safety,  some maneuvering needs to occur. Blackmon stayed in Indy last year on a 1-year deal for $3.7M.  He's looking for a bump, obviously. He's not getting Moehrig type of money.  He'll be S2, not S1 being paid so accordingly, therefore I'd say $5-$7M per season.

That said, we need to clear up somewhere along the lines of $5M-$8M.  Remember, have to factor in the rookie pool.

Very little reason to have too much confidence in Legette, IMO. He cares more about catching rodents than he does catching footballs. Another player who will probably make a fortune as a podcast host/personality after they flunk out of the league.

https://www.nbcsports.com/nfl/profootballtalk/rumor-mill/news/report-kirk-cousins-will-wait-until-after-draft-to-accept-a-possible-trade

Quote

Via Albert Breer of SI.com, Cousins hopes “to avoid the situation he found himself in last April when he was blindsided by Atlanta’s decision to take Michael Penix Jr. with the eighth pick.” As a result, Cousins isn’t willing to take any team at their word. Instead, he wants to see what happens during the draft before deciding whether to waive the clause that prevents the Falcons’ from trading him without his permission.

Once upon a time, people said that about Mingo and Leggette. Let's hope they learned their lesson. I think these writers just look at the mocks and then write a story that Carolina is interested in _______ and hope the mocks add some small amount of credibility. Of course the Panthers have a reputation of showing their cards so who knows. I hope they aren't giving anything away this year.

Wilson signs for a year with the Giants.

This has potential Panthers implications if the Giants opt to not take a QB and things break a certain way for us. Could weaken or strengthen our position to trade down.

Also could have a big impact on the Aaron Rodgers situation.

The giants aren't going qb then. Gonna wait a year and go for  Archie. I bet they tried to trade back to get ammunition  for next year.

I wouldn't say that completely eliminates them from going QB. They are way less invested than the Falcons were.

I don't think they are aiming for Arch because the current regime won't be around for it.

You raise a valid point. I see Russell giving them a chance vs going with a qb. I've seen they are high on Dart too. Possible 2nd round or trade up option at the back of 1.

    • agree to disagree you are entitled to that opinion even though I find the argument completely bizarre based on data. I could type out a long paragraph discussing those areas but what’s the point. I posted a screenshot that showed Bryce in a similar post snap situation with a free rusher in his face which resulted in a TD - that’s what happened on the play so I posted it.
    • I've already addressed this notion in a previous reply. You are basing your assertion outside reality if you think Bryce would have not only been more successful but defeated the Patriots in place of Herbert. Bryce got blown off the field by that Patriots team with the highest paid OL in the league. We've seen Bryce with an OL that gave up 65 sacks and it resulted in the #1 pick. And that is not a defense of Herbert or arguing he is a great QB in any way. He has physical talent but he has been similar to Darnold early in his career in terms of his very up and down perfomances. However that does not change the fact that they have significantly less invested in the OL than the Panthers.
    • I think Tepper has been setting the stage where pending there is no miracle he wipes it all clean.  Think you already have been told that with small things like Evero staying.  Bryce is the guy next year.  OC, DC, everything stays the same.  QB room largely the same.  Nothing would really matter there.  They basically get one more shot and it goes how the schedule paired with our 27th ranked O predictably most likely goes.  Everyone out the door together.  Bryce is a bridge tier QB.  I don’t see Dave surviving where he could be bridge QB here in reality.
