This is an interesting one. Could this be a good trade target for us at ILB?

Young player with good production and still a good amount of upside. Likely an upgrade over one or both of Wallace/Jewell.

Good PFF grades for those that care about such things.

I generally am against trading picks for players in a rebuild, but for a young talented and ascending LB which is probably our biggest weakness rn I love it. Linebacker is one of the hardest positions to adjust to in the pros, dudes about to hit his prime.

That's a good question. But his stats look good, PFF grades are good and there aren't any off-field issues I'm aware of. It could be as simple as the new regime doesn't value him the same way the old one did.

Sometimes when new coaches/GMs take over teams players like this can slip between the cracks.

In any event, I feel like he's worth looking into.

Stats and grades are all good but the biggest factor is why they team that drafted him does not want to pick up his option. That to me says more than anything. I'm watching every pro snap before I decide to give up a pick AND a big contract to.

You also have to consider the cap, they're paying Trevor, and others premium dollars, so honestly they may not be able to afford the 5th year option.

From what I can tell from Jags fans on their forums, they plan to extend him with a new contract rather than use the option. The fifth year option would make him one of the highest paid LBs in the league and it's cheaper to just give him a new deal.

The 1 area Jax has invested in the most of the last couple years. Think it's a numbers game. They even drafted 1 this year

The Jags have just under $50M in cap space for next season and Lloyd's bonus option would have accounted for $14.75M. Oluokun already is owed $16.5M then as well with Ventrel Miller and Yasir Abdullah providing depth.

Likely don't want to have over $30M tied up in two LBs. I can see them extending him with a low hit in 2026 that jumps much higher in 2027.

The stuff online seems to all mention that he's been disappointing in pass coverage.  His PFF grades look good, but his pass rating allowed when targeted last year was 109.6.  That seems kinda high.  Something going on there.  Even Josey Jewell's was 92.3, and I thought he was bad in coverage.

      That's also in an era when DBs could press for 10 yards, Qbs could be hit, QBs could have players land on them, incidental contact could be made with the head etc. You can't compare bryce to players like this. What you can do is say who's done less over their first 30 starts and had more resources dedicated to them and at that point you're looking at like Joey Harrington.  At least with Joey there weren't morons in the fan base falling over themselves to compare him to players from the first year of the NFL merger.

      Brees had a pro bowl year in year 3. Phillip Rivers was drafted anyways and Brees went off for two more years before his shoulder was completely torn up in the last game of the 2006 season.

      The last time this franchise was in this much despair pre Tepper, the rumors of the banner flyover were met by the front office. They quickly worked with the disgruntled fans to quell any potential negative event occurring at the Stadium or TV. The real question is do we even have enough fans that care to get together behind a movement like this again or is our fan base too far gone that we dont care to revolt like this? Personally, I still go to games each year no matter how terrible it is, but it has went from something I spent all week looking forward to almost as enjoyable as yearly physical. We can count the blunders this franchise has made in keeping Head Coaches, General Managers and players too long. (Rivera,Rhule, Hurney, Fitterrer). Team wise we've missed out on Herbert, we didnt trade Burns for 2 1st round picks, we reached by taking Bryce who would have most likely been were we were going to draft anyway, and extended players who constantly underperformed like Ian Thomas. Even when we are gifted a chance like 2 first for Burns that we shouldnt have paid premium, we fumbled a chance to really jump start the franchise. So this is more to everyone as a whole. How much of your Soul for this team is left? Is it still there that if there was a glimmer of hope, you'd come right back or has the futility of this team negated your love for football completely?
