I believe I'm officially done with the NBA. I've been hanging on by a thread but yeah I think that's it for me

i feel similar, it just feels like there is no way out of the basement for the hornets. we would have to get EXTREMELY lucky on a few picks which is hard to do when the NBA routinely screws you out of top talent

my idea to fix the NBA lottery is to have three team brackets

so the three worst teams are bracketed in the top three picks. Worst team with 50% odds, second worse 30% odds and third worse 20%.

Then picks 4-6, 7-9, and 9-12 are the same.

This would prevent these gigantic leaps teams are taking up the lottery to land generational stars when they had no business going there. The NFL doesn't fear this, why does the NBA- oh wait it's because they need the popular teams to stay good so the league stays relevant

I was thinking the same thing. Also, change from the stupid numbers to balls with team name or logo on it.  Each team have a designated player to drop their teams balls into the hopper.  Furst team drops 5, next team drops 3 and 3rd team drops 2. Then have some lucky fan pull the balls.  Televise the whole thing and make millions.

nah just get rid of the lottery and make it like the NFL. On the organizational level tanking already exists and scrapping the lottery wouldn't make it any worse. On the coaching/player level tanking does not exist and never will. The lottery system is dumb as fug.

I totally agree but I don't think the NBA will ever abandon it. They are so worried about tanking

The Hornets need to draft better and develop better, there is no doubt about that, but saying the solution is to simply crystal ball who will be the best players each draft and then also have those players be available at wherever you’re picking is beyond silly.

SGA and Giannis were drafted in the teens. Jokic was a second rounder. If it was as simple as the teams that drafted them knew they would be superstars and we didn’t, then the teams that drafted them would have traded up as high as they could to get those players and not wait until the teens or second round. If it’s as simple as the teams that drafted them are just god tier developers, then why do they fail developing other players just like everybody else?

Golden State are known as great drafters and developers, yet they took Wiseman at 2 over Lamelo and that was clearly the wrong decision. The Hornets would have probably taken Wiseman at 2 as well. There were 11 players taken before Haliburton that draft, he wasn’t even in play with the 3rd pick. The Thunder would have probably taken Oden at 1 if they had 1, instead of Durant at 2.

There’s an element of luck to all this that the Hornets clearly lack, and to have the lotto rigged on top of it all is just a slap in the face. Do you really think Durant would have busted on the Hornets? Or Anthony Davis or Wemby? I don’t, but unfortunately we’ll never know because the league doesn’t let those players get drafted here.

Honestly, the Hornets have done pretty decent the past few drafts. Whatever problems they have had with injury and otherwise, Lamelo, Williams, Miller, and Bridges have all shown when on the court to be worthy of their draft position. The biggest and dumbest thing they’ve done recently (and it is like Mount Rushmore of stupid moves) was when they traded Jalen Duren for a bunch of second round picks because they thought the roster was too full of talent. Like what the actual fug. I’ll never get over that one.

You're right it's unfair to say, "jokic should've been the pick" when no one knew he was that talented, everyone has misses. But, they had some bad bad misses on sure fire guys. Donovan Mitchell, Devin Booker, Beal, Divencenzo, Herro, just to name a few were MOCKED to us. All guys that were on their board for a fact.

Hopefully without MJ meddling, the front office will get better. Most of the outrageously bad picks were all MJ projects.

Now, we can't do anything about the NBA fixing draft lotteries.

Worst thing is, we were all set to draft Mitchell, but decided to grab Malik Monk when he dropped.

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
