The downside to Cam for us is that he was so good at carrying an offense that it made our already defensive minded brain trust feel like they could just focus on building a D and let Cam just carry the offense.

I would've loved to have seen what prime Cam could've done with a top tier offensive roster but alas.

I wish there was a way too log how many yards/TDs Ted Ginn Jr left on the field while wide open downfield......and Ted still had a good year despite all that.

A prime Cam with a legit downfield WR would have be something

Imagine Cam with Shanahan and all those weapons.

We ALL collectively held our breath as the ball was in the air to a wide open Ginn streaking down the field because it really did feel like a 50/50 chance of whether or not he was actually gonna catch it even if it hit him in the hands perfectly.

Imagine 2 with Greg and CMC underneath. Yeah, one year Ginn dropped 5 of them and still had 10 TDs.

You’re right about one thing

its not hard

i make my entertainment choices based on the things I enjoy. I enjoy NFL season game days where the Panthers win marginally more than days they don’t. We have family and friends over most game days and the party is much more fun when we notch a win

sorry but I’m just not ever pulling for the team to win for a better position in the crap shoot that is the NFL draft

Dude, the only way to be good at something is to lose all the time...everyone knows that.

People got upset when XL dropped a TD, but there were several times he was wide open downfield and BY threw a horrible pass.  No more excuses for Bryce

I just rewatched the 3.5min video and counted only two, arguably three uncatchable balls to XL. He had at least four drops.

What are the timestamps for the throws you saw that were uncatchable?

You do remember that Bryce Young's own father publicly pounded the table for XL right?

I hate 'fans' like you..

At the end of the day we all just want sustained success and to be a constant threat in the playoffs.  He just thinks that way is a quicker way of getting there.  I don't personally agree with the logic, but I understand where he is coming from.

Given that vid/stat is only clean pockets with no pressure?  I would assume the other throws.  BY overall on target % was bad.

I used to feel the same way, but losers lose and winners win.  There's not a real world example of tanking working in the NFL.

Yeah I don't personally agree with it.  I mean the Ravens just walked away with the best safety in the class and an edge that was a potential 1st rounder.  Build your roster and the let the draft fall to you.  Like you said winners win.

So... deep throws under pressure?

image.thumb.png.20b890041756bffd167476c72e6b2c41.png

There's 18 of those, total--six targeting Legette of which four were incomplete.

  • @ PHI was the drop with less than a minute to play.
  • @ DAL was on a broken play where Bryce avoided a sack but XL came down OOB due to DaRon Bland pushing him out
  • @ TB the first incompletion is debatable in terms of catchability, but it looks to me like XL lost it in the sun for a split second as it came down.
  • @ TB again was a bit of an underthrow with a helmet in Bryce's chest. DB was able to cleanly swipe it away for the pass deflection

So out of all of those plays, there's two that fit the original criteria set... maybe.

But let's widen scope to be for all incomplete passes, not just those targeting XL. Seven of plays fit those parameters. We have already covered four which leaves us with just these three:

  • Overthrow to Coker vs. NO
  • Drop by David Moore in the endzone vs. KC
  • Overthrow to JT vs PHI while scrambling, but it looks like JT was supposed to keep going because he ended up in the same place as XL

That leaves us with a total of, at max (after putting on anti-Bryce shades): 5 out of 18 deep passes that were uncatchable. That means that under pressure Bryce was even better than he was with a clean pocket, throwing a catchable ball on 72% of his throws over 20+ yards.
