Howell should be a decent backup but at this point it is worth questioning if there is anything else at play given the number of times he's been traded.

And to springboard from that it's almost laughable looking at how many other teams are playing musical chairs with their QB rooms continually churning and not being complacent while the lowly Panthers have been content with two of the worst backups in the league.

I think Panthers fans are going to be in for quite the wake up when Dalton isn't the backup. He is far from the worst.

Of course he's not the literal worst. But the problem is the price the team paid and the fact he's nearly 40. If you're going to keep around a low end backup go with a younger cheaper option. I mean as much as we say Jack Plummer is cheeks the guy is making very little by comparison.

isnt dalton like 8-25 in his last starts from the past 3 years?  I mean he is pretty bad.

going back 10 years he is 34-56.    You telling me we cannot upgrade from that?

Correct. Like I said. Nearly three years ago the Saints who had a plenty long look at him said no thank you and goodbye. We saw fit to not only push his career earnings over the $100 million hump but also try to build a culture around him. The results speak louder than words.

My guess is that Bryce really likes him so the team probably thinks it’s best for his development?

Frankly, if most teams in the NFL lose their starting QB for a significant amount of time, they're screwed. The fantasy is that one has a future Tony Romo or a Nick Foles that can carry a stacked team. The reality is that you might get roughly 3~5 games out of your backup before it all falls apart. Remember all of Peyton Manning's backups? Utterly terrible.

Speaking of backup QB's, Raiders may need one.

    • I think i like the Oregon Safety better
    • Do you see the vision?  As of now our Carolina Panthers don’t have an identity. We are not an offensive powerhouse and on defense we only started getting it together towards the end of the year last year. In my opinion we are much closer to having an incredible defense that scares the daylights out of people. I say the answer is simple and we fully commit to that possible identity.    Emmanuel McNeil Warren (E man)  This guy is like a shark lurking around ready to attack anyone. Fearless. He is easily a top 20 talent in my eyes, and the only reason he isn’t more talked about is because he’s from Toledo. Do your due diligence as panther fans and watch his tape I beg you. Once you’re done watching let me ask you this, if you dropped E - Man into the strong safety spot on the Buckeyes, he isn’t being talked about as one of the best prospects we’ve seen in some time given the skill set you see with this guy? I think so. Put his name on the card and turn it in at 19.    Jacob Rodriguez  High effort, High energy, High IQ guy that flies around the field. We all know Jacob at this point. My only concern is he’s a little bit too good and I’m not sure he makes it to us at our pick in the second. With the additions of Jacob and E- Man I think our defense goes to top 5 in the league. We would have a duo of linebackers that rival anything we’ve had in our past. I’m not a GM so I don’t know what the possible answer could be, but if there’s a way we can comfortably trade up in the second to secure this guy I think we find a way to do it.    Spend the rest of our picks fixing the O - line.    Thoughts Panthers fans? Who’s the ideal duo for yall?
    • OL is arguably much more important to the success of a young QB. (Or any QB)
