Nick Scott is slated to be a starter? Well damm.

Surprised I had to scroll this far to find this. This one was kinda unexpected but I figure none of this is set, and even if he starts we will rotate a ton at safety regardless

The depth chart is largely unsettled on the defensive side, for good reason. I see it shuffling quite a bit before it's over. I think it just reflects seniority for the moment. Hell Nick Scott and A. Robinson may not even make it through final cuts, let alone be starters. It'll be interesting to see what happens.

Not really any surprises and I doubt it'll change all that much but also worth noting that "official" depth charts this early are never put out by the coach or accurately represent the real pecking order other than a guess from whatever staffer they have put it out there. Occasionally used deliberately to motivate a player or to play games with the league too, however. Point being, I wouldn't read anything into it even if it mostly lines up with what we expect anyways.

The closer the season the get the more i realize this team is still far away from competing . I had hope, but man we still have so many holes and too many average starters . But i do think we will be better than last year but that’s not saying much.

We do know that we have an above average O-line and running backs. That's good. We know that the interior D-line is above average. We know that Jaycee Horn is above average (when on the field). Mike Jackson played slightly above average last year---well enough.

The problem (and maybe the solution) is that we are a young team, and frankly we don't know what we have in the rookies or some of the second-year players, or our QB to be perfectly honest, but there's some hope. We'll know soon.

Not sure that is true. Our starters will compete. Depth is going to be an ongoing issue but injuries killed us last year and that is hard to predict. As long as we stay healthy I expect us to be competitive this year.

I would say nothing to see yet but Robinson over Wharton would be a really bad sign by Game 1.

Why? Robinson was our best DL last season and is a run stopper. Also there is a heavy rotation so Wharton may still get more snaps but 1st down or for sure run plays I want Robinson in with Turk coming in pass downs and to keep both fresh.

    • This is what I mean. I am not some huge BY fan. I honestly don't look at QBs the way a lot of you guys do. Right or wrong, I've always looked at them as just another cog in the machine. Didn't want BY or even a trade up for a QB in 2023. We saw in the Super Bowl how important the rest of the team is on any given Sunday. Now... so PFF, who has no reason to prop up BY, says he's first in 2 stat lines and Panthers "fans" are arguing why it's either wrong or a made up stat just to make BY look good. Even though they have multiple stat lines where he's literally last in. Like 32nd in the NFL. Some he's even lower than 32. Take a step back. Try to objectively self analyze. This is just not sensible.  Same thing I see with other teams' fans and their QBs though. We analyze every single throw on every single play. For every other QB, most here are only using highlights to judge. Makes a difference. We saw Stafford miss throws when they played Carolina - both games. We saw Love throw crap up when they played Carolina. We saw Dak miss throws when they played Carolina - and Pickens was putting on a SHOW. We saw Josh Allen win a game with 163 yards passing against Carolina, but if BY does it he's crap and can't pass for 200 yards. Gents... come on.
    • None of us think we're contenders this season but no reason we're doomed to 5 or 6 wins either. Dan has to have another 2025- like draft class and at least 2 key free agent signings. We're not Seattle but they don't win without 5 starters from their last 2 draft classes and Darnold and Lawrence in free agency.  Alas,  we'll have to wait one more season for a QB upgrade.
