Re-claiming this Board

Very true.

I think we all just want to see a positive trend upward, and when the Panthers look like a 5/6 win team, we will hear why they are that team. There have been some positive changes, but it has been too slow. The team is responsible for giving the fan base something to watch and at least be competitive. We all want to win and build a champion, but true fans will boo and put bags on their heads while still buying tickets and gear because they want to see a change for the positive. It's not the fan's responsibility to pull up the team and coddle their emotions. Our responsibility as a fan is to give our honest feedback and pressure the team to become a champion. If the players break because of the fans, then you likely don't have a champion caliber player.

This board has stayed true to the fan. Rah rahs for their favorite players in bad times are always welcome, but not everyone will be a rah rah, and there will be fans that don't eternally hope for a player - especially on a consistently under performing team.

I'm sure some will call this trolling too and I will get the poo. Oh well

Ive said it 100x on here.  Just get to .500 (or better) going into week 5.  Thats it, easy enough, do that and lets go from there.  Baby steps and all.   As a harsh critic of this team that is what is beaten into me at this point, just be .500 and Ill be moderately happy

Two thoughts.

1.  In terms of talking football online, the archaic huddle is about as least toxic as it can get.   The modern social media sites are way more toxic than the vintage message board format here.

2.  People always look back and create a version of the huddle that didn't really exist.  In fact, I would argue there were windows where people were way harder and angrier about Jake freaking Delhomme than they have ever been about Bryce Young (which is really more apathetic than anger).

Hell, you still had some fans grumbling about Cam during an MVP season. LOL

I once had people verbally rip my head of and poo down my neck because I didn't think paying 2 RBs featured money at the same time was a good way to build a football team.    But yeah, it was never weird back in the day.

heck folks made a friendly Panther just trying to hustle a new business run away because....yeah, the huddle always has been the huddle.  It's our GM now.  But this place never was what some like to recall it was.

Thank you. I mean, it's pretty light/tame right now and has been FAR FAR worse at times.  Bwood/TRD days, early Cam years (King T/there was some insane stuff around 2012-2013), it's really not much different.  If anything, I'd argue it was the most heated here after Cam was drafted but before we became perennial contenders.  Those few years were YIKES (Along with needing to ignore everything posted by Chuck)

If anything, traffic is a bit light and there's not a ton of conversation going due to changing times.  And it's not like new people are discovering this place in droves.  Many of us are young-X to Millenial that have grown up with the board, nowadays have kids and/or sh*t going on.  It's the end of summer, people are taking vacations, kids are starting school, just are out and abooout.

I'll just encourage anyone wanting it better to drop in the content to get stuff going.

Yeah, it's honestly a lot more volatile when emotions run high. Apathy is the overall general fanbase vibe in recent years.

I don't think it would be so bad if the Huddle as a whole hadn't been so right so many times about common sense things. I haven't seen anything that has given me any hope that this team can make good decisions starting with Tepper. Its just one comically bad failure after another.

I've said numerous times during the Tepper era that the Panthers would honestly be better off making major decisions via poll on the Huddle and that's just fuging sad. LOL

The gas-lighting in this thread is laughable. So lets get a couple of things straight:

1. I'm not romanticizing the huddle of old. There were always annoyances and arguments and people losing their heads. The difference? They were outliers. The reason you can remember guys like Chuck is because they stood out as the problem. And they were reacted to and dealt with accordingly without it being necessary to run tattling to mods. There was an expectation of how you carried yourself and how you responded to others. That has become increasingly flexible. That's a fact.

2. The fact that the team sucks, the owner sucks, the coach sucks, or whatever the flavor of the moment is, doesn't give immunity to your behavior and interaction with others. We have far too many people with the inability to manage themselves and they simply shrug off any culpability because the team "isn't winning" and simply say they have a right to criticize the team. Yes you do, but you don't have the right to demean or demoralize others or continually derail threads with constant verbal bashing and criticisms. Your behavior and interactions are on you. Period. Be critical of the team, the owner, whomever. But its the interactions with other posters and with topics that is the problem.
