We haven't had New Orleans level cap issues but we also are projected(prior to this deal) to have just $17.7 mil in cap space next season. That's pretty bad when you consider what we are getting in return.

That was also counting 4.8m for Moton from his previous restructure.

he has been paid, handsomely, you dont give new guaranteed deals on past performance................unless you are the panthers

I don't see any reason to think he doesn't have 2 more good years left. I think the knee issue has been overblown. My only question is why we didn't do this in February or March. We could have used the extra cap space to sign more help on defense.

For like the 10th time on this thread, he is signed for the 2025 season to a tune of 31 million.  Why the fug wouldnt you simply wait and see?

If the team is confident with the medicals, it makes a lot of sense. Lock down the most consistent member of the strongest unit for another two years, reduce the overall cap number which opens up to signing two impact players or rolling it over to next season, and get more flexibility in the upcoming drafts.

Another two to three years of Hunt/TMo paving the way on the right side is gonna be lit if TMo's got the knee figured out.

How is it overblown? He had to have his workload very carefully managed all season last year while still missing some games. Not because of an acute injury, but because of chronic knee issues. These things just do not get better with age while still playing football and carrying 300+ pounds.

The cap would have opened up next year regardless, and what impact players are you referring to this late in the game?  Granted I am not well versed on who is a FA these days but I kindof gotta think its been reduced to dog poo at this point, but I could be wrong

And yet he played and played well. I'm reasonably positive they're comfortable with his knee situation if they decided to extend him. I can understand if we signed him for 5-6 years, but it's a 2-year extension.

We have plenty of things on this team to be legitimately worried about; Taylor Moton is not one of them.

Nice framing? You mean just telling the truth?

Your truth. Mine would look something like this…

”Panthers just extended their RT. He’s been a steady presence for years. This helps solidify our OL and secure it will remain a strength. Hopefully, he’ll be a career Panther.”

Your intelligent NFL friend likely would’ve responded with something like, “Nice signing. Helps Bryce continue to grow with good support from his OL.”

Do you know how to find the currently available list of free agents?

Not fuging with you btw, genuinely asking. Didn't want to provide you with resources and how to if you were already aware.

Mind you, this isn't to say that we should sign somebody and that they will be an impact player, but just looking at the dollar amount. $30M means you can shoulder two $10M+ deals. idk enough about Tillis yet to speak to his tendencies, but from what Dan spoke on last year it sounds like the team likes to keep $12M - $15M going into the season. That's a healthy number that allows the team to sign a guy (or a few) and still roll over a couple of bones.

Also include "he graded out as the 6th best RT in the NFL last year"

    • My projection. I think at WR its time to go with youth. This means Moore should be the odd man out. Horn can return both punts and kicks and Tremayne is a better WR than Moore. XL gets one more year to prove himself, although I could see a trade in the future which would mean Moore could stay. For OL, I would like us to bring back Brady if we can. The RBs, Trevor can return both punts and kicks too. With the uncertainty of Brooks and Dillon, its hard to choose either one. I think the team would like for Brooks to have a breakout season to clear any uncertainty that he deserves a spot. For now, I have them both even and on the team. DL looks solid as well as OLB. Watch out for the UDFA of Aaron Hall and Isaiah Smith at OLB. They look promising and could knock someone off the team. ILB is still the biggest weakness on the team. We need to upgrade that any means necessary. CB is strong and Im praying to all the Gods that Wheatley beats out Scott at FS.  OFFENSE: WR: Tetairoa McMillan - *Chris Brazzell II* - Brycen Tremayne TE: Tommy Tremble - James Mitchell LT: #Rasheed Walker# - *Monroe Freeling* LG: Damien Lewis C- #Luke Fortner# - *Sam Hecht* RG: Robert Hunt - #Saahdiq Charles# RT: Taylor Moton - #Stone Forsythe# TE: Ja`Tavion Sanders - Mitchell Evans WR: Xavier Legette - Jalen Coker - Jimmy Horn Jr. QB: Bryce Young - #Kenny Pickett# RB: Chuba Hubbard - Trevor Etienne - #AJ Dillon# - Jonathon Brooks DEFENSE: LE: Tershawn Wharton - Bobby Brown III  NT: *Lee Hunter* - Cam Jackson RE: Derrick Brown - LaBryan Ray LOLB: Nic Scourton - Patrick Jones II  LILB: Trevin Wallace - Bam Martin-Scott - *Jackson Kuwatch* RILB: #Devin Lloyd# - Claudin Cherrelus  ROLB: #Jaelen Phillips# - Princely Umanmielen LCB: Jaycee Horn - Akayleb Evans RCB: Mike Jackson - *Will Lee III* - Chau Smith-Wade SS: Tre`von Moehrig - Lathan Ransom FS:  Nick Scott - *Zakee Wheatley* - Demani Richardson  SPECIAL TEAMS: K/KO: Ryan Fitzgerald P/H: Sam Martin KR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. PR: Trevor Etienne - Jimmy Horn Jr. LS: J.J. • His contract is guaranteed.  Legette is just not where he needs to be mentally.  Not fully invested, it seems.
    • Literally like Hill. He's not QB1 material (now or ever), but if we can turn him into a H-back and use him like  Swiss army knife, that's his ticket to make the roster.  H-back/emergency QB.  I wonder how good his hands are?  If they are at least above average by NFL standards then we can line him up in the backfield, in the slot, split out wide and of course, in the Wildcat.
