Cap Question

So per Over the Cap we have about $24,000,000 in cap space after the Thielen deal.

wtf are we doing with it.

I know we need to save a little for emergencies, but going in with that much seems excessive. I also understand that there isn’t much talent available, but are we just going to sit on this until March or is Morgan looking for a mid-season deal to pop up.

I don’t remember the last time we had this much at Week 1.

Its not excessive. Its below median.  Panthers are 19th in cap space.

yes it rolls over.  We're going to go with what we have and develop our young guys this year because we're not ready to compete at a playoff level.  And we have to sign Ickey and Bryce soon, if Bryce continues to develop.  We need all the cash we can get.  Next year we'll move ahead with helping the defense, and then it's time to spend draft capitol replacing some of the more expensive OL and DL talent we've paid in the last 2 years, and it's a lot.

You must be one of these "one move away guys."

No, I just really don’t want to leave games on the table this year because we believe in Shemar Bartholomew or think Claudin Cherelus is well enough.

Well they are a developmentally minded staff that has focused on building this roster from the inside out. So I wouldn't expect a splash move to fill any holes coming anytime soon, especially outside of the trenches. Maybe in 2026, but that depends on where Bryce is. If Bryce fails, we are gonna stay in rebuild mode.

That’s the definition of a one player away fan. We aren’t in the playoffs this year unless Tampa shits the bed and a losing record takes the South so spending our entire cap is bad.

Roll it over so when we are competitive we can sign a couple studs and go for it. A 5-12 team with a lot more than one hole is not that.
