No he didn't, he was perfectly happy here until the Vikings badly needed a WR and showed interest.

He didn't "want out" as you say, he just wanted this opportunity once it arose.

I still think we should have played hardball and demanded more for him, not because he was worth it in a trade, but because he was worth more to to our team than the return we got for him.

I mean you can sugarcoat it any way you choose but he wanted to go to Minny to play with a guy that has never started in the nfl.

 

why you want to argue this point is quite perplexing.  It was never going to end well for the panthers once AT wanted out

"It was something that he was really convicted about. He wanted to go and finish his career there. Obviously he's from there, he has a house there, he has young kids. There's a human side to it, too."

False. He went out of his way to publicly praise the current rookie QB for the Vikings going as far as saying he could become the face of the league. This was back in early June. Something was brewing for awhile.

Trust me I get it if my wife was bugging me every day to move somewhere else I would do the same as AT. Point being, that isn’t the Panthers problem. Sorry dude go deal with your wife and take the millions of dollars we’re paying. Not doing your wife “a solid”

That happened to me once, hahaha

Because our agency's main client had huge layoffs, we had to have our own batch of them.  The agency really didn't think through who they were cutting and why, it was purely based on the department/team you worked in.

After a month, they called me and said they wanted me back in the same role but on another team.  I told them I was already getting interviews/offers for jobs/salaries much better than I had there as they should have given them to me years before.

In the end, I got a 2 title bump, a 20% raise, and started the day after my severance from the layoffs ended (which was sizable as I had been there 5 years).  So I got a big promotion and raise to get a free 6 week paid vacation before starting on the new team.

The problem was that I turned down a job that I knew I should have taken instead, as I knew it wasn't a good fit on that team for me.  But I was arrogant and liked knowing the whole office would know they had to give me a huge raise given my new title and I took it purely for that reason, and of course it then went exactly like I thought and I hated it.

      The "now it's been three years" Grade for the 2023 Draft

      Didn't  see this posted (since 2023) but since folks have been posting that you can't judge a draft class for three years (a ridiculous take), I thought I'd post this to see what people thought about the 2023 draft. Unfortunately this may not be the most interesting class to do this with but I do quite like retrospective draft grades. Would appreciate other's takes on this (and other recent) draft classes.   1(1) - Bryce Young QB: I am a bigger Bryce Young apologist than most (maybe all). I like the kid. But there is no way around it: This was a terrible pick. If he had been picked in the 4th or even the 3rd round I would feel pretty good about it. But this was the first overall pick that we gave up two firsts, our best offensive player to get.  GRADE: C -    2(39) - Jonathan Mingo WR: not much to say here here. He was here for two years. His yards per catch are on par with Bryce's yards per pass. Rough stuff. To date he has still never scored a touchdown in the NFL GRADE: F   3(80) - DJ Johnson OLB: a pick I hated as soon as it happened and an example of why the premise of this thread is honestly dumb. This was a bad pick when it happened. Most people knew it.  Then came training camp and he did not look good. Then came the preseason which confirmed what we saw in TC. Then came the season which confirmed what we saw in preseason. To date, he has half a sack in his career. GRADE: F 4 (114) Chandlers Zavala G: Honestly the best pick of this draft which really speaks to how awful this draft is. Other than Bryce, the only pick still on the team. He is mostly average or below average depth which in round 4 is not terrible. But he had a pff score of 43.5 and though I think people have unrealistic expectations for draft picks, I still would want a little more from a fourth round pick GRADE: C+   5 (145) - Jammie Robinson S: I liked the pick when it happened but ended up being a disappointment. He logged 1 tackle with the falcons last year and not enough snaps to get a grade on PFF.  GRADE: F OVERALL DRAFT GRADE: F
