This is what I was saying earlier. He wants to play close to home. Honestly same as AT playing in Minnesota (except he was contracted to play here). People have to let things fully unfold before they start whining. Regardless I doubt HR will have as good of a year as some think. I see him as a clutch 3rd down guy and a nice vet to mentor these young WRs.

I think how good of year Hunter has boils down to Canales’ scheme and playcalling.   If he just runs the stuff he did  last year and asks him to run ATs routes….Hunter won’t do much

He said his conditioning in camp was a problem and the plan was for him to go to the PS to work on that. When the Adam thing happened, they decided to have him join the 53. The plan is still for him to work on his conditioning for the time being. He may be inactive or he may just play a few times here and there.

Canales said it was a concern when he was justifying all his roster moves. Which I still say you can’t  take what coaches say as the gospel when they are explaining things on a mic.

Hunter said we got games coming up, so I guess we will see.

I know you are happy your guy is on the roster and will get playing time.

Much like Bryce though….not sure Hunter really fits Dave.  So, just for the record it’s not me picking on Bryce with fit of scheme

I think he could be a nice reliable 3rd down target. Let him find the soft spots in the defense. XL and TMac should handle the outside.

No, that’s what Hunter said. I know DC said something similar, but hunter gave more detail.

Yeah but the guys that stepped up when KB left were veterans well into their careers.

Ted “no hands” Ginn and his sidekick Grandpa Cotchery.

No lie… to this day, and forever, I’m always still gonna love me some Ted Ginn.  I tell people all the time who aren’t Panther fans so they don’t know - Ted legit was our best receiver during Cam’s tenure here.

Yeah, the recent interview in front of his locker….

if you listen, Hunter regurgitates what Canales said and does it from Canales’ perspective.  Coach said,  coach thought, Coach wanted.

Every year I explain my position that coaches are not truthful people when it comes to explaining decisions and what is going on….they aren’t in the business of letting us know what is going on behind the scenes.   Nothing ever supported what Dave was selling.  He saw something apparently no one covering the team every single day saw.  He kept his boy and had to have a reason to explain it at the end of the day….and saying Moore was better would not sell

Hunter never had said he believed such is what I am saying.  That was Dave BSing his roster decisions.  What coaches do.  Hunter doesn’t play OL.  Odds are with his select slot work and his role….he is better prepared than our lineman for week 1.

A lot of our current offensive system is spreading guys out, running 4 or 5 wide and letting Bryce find the best matchups presnap.

Hunter is elite at settling in a zone and running underneath routes.

I see both as good fits for our scheme.

Hunter was originally signed at 1 mil for the year.  Now, it's 2 mil.  Absolutely nothing unusual with the whole process especially since from the start we knew he was only going to play for us.

If we'd kept AT, it was up to Hunter if being on the practice squad was inline with his playing goals this year.  When we traded AT that gives Hunter the chance he wanted.

None of this stuff is done on a whim.

    • If you're looking for a pat on the back it sounds good in theory until you realize they also had the 2023 Panthers as the top draft class.
    • Going into the 2003 and 2015 seasons we were supposed to be the joke of the league each time. In 2003, John Fox was supposed to still be in rebuild mode. We had a guy named Peppers on the defensive line who was supposed to be pretty good. We had Rodney Peete as our starting QB and a line that was a lot of hope and not much experience. Our new running back was a guy the Redskins, errrr Commanders, had jettisoned for being too old. We had a good kicker and writers thought that was needed because there were going to be more field goals than touch downs. Heck, it looked like they were right up until just before halftime of that first game when we had to yank Rodney Peete and put in some Cajun duded whose name couldn't be pronounced. And Steve Smith? He wasn't Smitty yet. Moose Muhammad, well, he was close to being written off as a bust. You know how that turned out. And then in 2015, we had Cam Newton, who was electrifying to watch but hadn't really won anything yet. There was an offensive line in front of him that looked like it was made in a defunct Swiss cheese factory and our big hope on offense was the great Kelvin Benjamin. And then he got taken out for the year with a knee injury in training camp. Ted "Feet of Lightning, Hands of Stone" Ginn became our default go to guy beside our next best hope, yeah, Devin Funchess. Our defense was pretty good, a scrappy bunch with frikkin' awesome linebacker play and a cornerback who had done more than drank the Kool-Aid, but had snorted the powder. He played like a superhero and became sort of a bat-man during the season. By the Super Bowl he had completely lost his freaking mind, though, and managed to talk his way out of a contract with the team next year. No one was expecting us to win the NFCSouth that season, much less almost go undefeated and into the Super Bowl. So, 2026? Who knows? But our best seasons came when no one had a reason to believe in us, except us.
    • it's not so much this personal vendetta against the Carolina Panthers as it is more about Bryce Young never not once been in the same conversation with the top 15 or even top 20 Qbs in the NFL ..just saying
