Bryce Young Is Terrible

No fluff, no crap, cutting right to it:

Someone can be an upstanding dude, want to do all the right things, have the mental traits, but if you can't perform, none of it matters.  And he isn't performing up to the standards of a starting QB.  He had like 60 yards at halftime.

My one expectation was to not look dead/lethargic.  Expectations were super low.   I.E. - Don't look like the Clausen era and Bryce year 1 where we couldn't even sustain a 1:50 minute drive more than 3 downs and a punt.  All I was looking for was like 2 TDs, F*ck, not even a win.

When he played "well" last season, he was bailed out with dropped INTs and we also featured a huge amount of empty sets to handicap him. He still had his ridiculous mechanics and flippant pocket presence. None of that has changed.

You simply can't do enough with him to create a diverse, movable offense, so defense's jobs are super easy.  The Jags didn't even play us that tough.  We couldn't execute simple concepts as an offense, and our playbook is incredibly restricted due to his abilities.

I'm at the end. I'll let him pleasantly surprise me and make me look like a fool.

I won't be relentless in my disinterest.  I'm just out.

XL certainly isn't looking good, but TMac was exciting.  It's his FIRST game.

I feel y'all are being way too harsh right now.

Sort of exciting based on the crap we’ve drafted at WR in recent years. I’m still worried about his speed and separation. He wasn’t able to separate at all on the almost TD. It’s not good on a deep route (not under thrown) for a CB to be able to reach around your back and knock the ball out of your back hand. He’s clearly better than our recent 2nd and 1st round WRs but his speed and separation was my biggest worry. I really hope that is overblown.

To think... In an alternate reality we could have drafted CJ #1 and not been this aids

You all need to understand this, and I cannot be more clear, CJ Stroud would be awful if he came here. We are a QB graveyard. It is not a coincidence both Sam and Baker were awful here and then turned into Pro Bowlers when they left. QBs die here under Tepper’s Panthers, it is just what it is.

CJ also didn’t have a much better stat line than Bryce today.

I feel like with a guy like TMac, separation isn't as big of a deal.  He is usually the bigger man, and can just use his body to box them out.

I don't care how he gets the job done, as long as he does.  Dude has some rare hands.

Granted, I only watch Panthers ball, so I don't see a lot of elite players.

I know this is an unpopular opinion right now, but this wasn't all on Bryce.  We are very predictable, and there were few players today that I wouldn't place blame on.

Did Bryce look good?  No.

He's still the guy going forward for right now and everyone needs to calm down.  We knew this was a possibility.  He either figures it out and we are good, or he doesn't and we draft his replacement.

Nothing as changed about this equation, and we still don't know the answer to the question at this point.

It wasn’t all on Bryce but you’re not winning when you turn the ball over three times and throw for 154 yards. We are lucky this game wasn’t 42-3, because that’s what it felt like.

I watch a lot of football. I am convinced we should have taken Matthew Golden and kept Thielen. Bryce needs a quick hitting offense to function.

No he didn't but CJ is a much better QB than Bryce.

Bryce lives in some realm where the only way he plays well is when he’s not in his head thinking of his own limitations and the offense isn’t being challenged on a talent level. It sucks because I see what the team is trying to do but it’s just not realistic to require the team to be perfect for him to display competence.

It really doesn’t matter. Bryce isn’t an area thrower, he’s a precision passer. You need guys who run precision routes and gain separation. This organization is constantly trying to fit a square peg through a round hole and it’s to the point that I just don’t care anymore.

we should have taken Golden or Warren, period.
