Did you guys even pay attention to how Atlanta was defending the offense? Atlanta didn't lose today because of their defense. They played a lot of zone looks and kept the play in front of them because they knew that no one could beat them deep except tmac, and they pretty much had a corner pressing him and a safety over the top the entire game. As bad as Xavier has been this year, he changes how defenses play us. They knew all we had behind TMac was a bunch of short and intermediate receivers at best.

Bryce took what the defense gave him, and yes there were some plays left on the field. Some of them were misfires by Bryce and some of them were dropped by receivers, and some were 3rd and long situations because of penalties by the offensive line. The offense as a whole is still trying to find its identity. I think you have to look at the full picture here people. And when you don't have the weapons to manipulate the defense, you take what you can. We missed Thielen, Coker, and yes, even XL today.

don't bring actual analysis to this thread, we prefer to complain about not throwing it 11 times into double coverage downfield

The falcons were near the top of the league in sacks and pressure rate coming into this game, we just lost two starting lineman. I think this week whole gameplan was to get rid of the ball as fast as possible and not turn it over.

Outside a few miss throws to Renfrow Bryce executed that gameplan

I still have no idea what these things mean.

It means we didn't have an effective vertical passing game today, much like most of our games.

Literally, you see the line of scrimmage and the green dots represent completed passes and the white dots are incompletions. These are air yards, not actual production after the catch (if there is any).

Not one pass today was completed at least 20 yards down field. There were two passes beyond 20 yards (incompletions), and four in between 10 and 20 yards (two completions). The rest were 10 yards or less, with the bulk of passes being within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage (including the ones [8] behind the LOS).

Hopefully you get the picture now.

You lot would whine if you won the lotto

Well last time we ‘won’ the lotto, another team cashed our ticket, because we traded it to them for what turned out to be the booby prize, as they used to call it.

Just nice to finally have a franchise QB again

Who would that be? I didn’t see one.
Don’t get me all wrong here, I enjoyed the winning for once and I am not going around calling Young out unprovoked but this is the kind of fantasy post that will instigate that type of response. He proved nothing along those lines today IMO.
Maybe he yet will, but today wasn’t proof of it.

All this rationalizing about this game doesn't change the fact Bryce had 3 completions in 70+ attempts at or beyond 15 yards coming into this game.

Bryce hasn't threatened past the sticks consistently this season. It's quite different from his good games last year imo.

I think some of those are coming, but don’t expect consistency.

I think it will be kind of like when Wilks was here at best: beat the teams you should beat, still get your ass kicked by the good ones.

You might be able to win some games with him if you can get games like today with no turnovers and everything else working, all three phases.
