Any well functioning team benches Bryce

It's going to be a long season. People here have already made up their minds and are staunchly in their respective corners regarding the QB. All the bluster about agendas and bias and hating is just noise. Unfortunately I feel like it's only a matter of time before we run into another buzzsaw like we did in New England. Just how it goes being a Panthers fan. But for today I am appreciative of Dowdle our young receivers and rookies like Etienne and Mitchell and for the defense as a whole for stepping up. It's good to see those guys gain some confidence.

I think the thing is it's fine to win games where your QB doesn't need to perform particularly well.

The issue is that his best games this year have been those games.

And we gotta decide what to do with him after this year... Which, I think we know.

And I am fine with moving on after this year if he doesn’t drastically improve or drafting some competition. It’s the takes of calling for benching now that is just so mind blowing for a fan to post

It's not like he just had a 23/27 game with 4 TDs or something. He's been mediocre at best.  He did just enough this game to not lose and ride a crazy rushing performance.

The example of the problem is accurately seen looking at last season.   He is so bad and lacks so many tools…..and we have skewed the bar so much you could see improvement this year.  I mean he has been bad every single week without fail.  So he could “improve”.  Just like last year…and it screws us because we have a dude playing QB who can’t do NFL basics.  Then you got people claiming he improved

Panthers won, heck yeah!

Did Bryce prove that he's the dude?  Nope.  He was a big reason we were down 17.  Two early turnovers again.  The first fumble was stupid.  The tipped ball wasn't a great throw.

But he was also part of the team that didn't give up.  So there's a little star for him.

Bryce continues to be in a prove it year.  So far, not great.  Not good.  Subpar.

Bro you’re acting like we have legitimate competition waiting on the bench.  It makes zero sense you’re delusional

Dalton might be washed but he functions as a QB is supposed to in these offenses to work…..that’s why every year when he appears he sets the passing highs on the year.

and you can’t have a well run org where you have a unique Bryce exception for performance at this point

Dalton is good for one or two games. He is a good change of pace but way worse for the entire season. We saw that last year

Everyone knows the Panthers need a long-term answer at qb. But you don't bench him for this game and certainly not for Andy after bouncing back from that 1st quarter. The team can continue to look for a qb for the future.

Exactly

    • Maybe it's because I played LT until some fat fug folded my knee, but I love watching footwork drills at the combine for olinemen. I call it fat man ballet. Base and balance are everything when it come to being a lineman. Everything starts there. Sure there's lateral movement, hip flex, bend, hand fighting, strength, push, etc, but without a strong base and good balance, the rest aren't happening. Those drills are specifically designed to show you things and they stand out big time if you're watching their feet and ankles. You can tell what doesn't feel like a natural movement. I remember watching Greg Little and I was blown away at how bad his footwork was. Like unbelievably bad. To the point I thought maybe he had never practiced one of these drills before. I remember when we drafted him, I thought to myself well fug, there's a wasted pick.  Aside from the added weight, I wonder if that's part of why Bryce didn't throw. Standing next to all the other QBs, that footwork and mechanics would stand out like a sore thumb, much more so than at a pro day. Bryce is good at some things, improvising and eluding and he does appear to have that clutch gene, but his throws get ugly when he tries to arm it instead of having that solid stead base to throw from.
    • He could be 6-9 and he would still suck with the issues he has.
